Outstanding. Liked the caption with some who what where. May I ask what program helped you produce these results?

Seeking a stand-alone photo printer for Windows 10 that will work with laser and inkjet photo printer ie Canon Pro 100.
It has the following features:
Easy direct selection without catalogs.
Selection of color profiles
Paper sizes to 13X19
Selectical paper profiles
Selectical quality levels
Ability to print multiple pictures on a single page ie collage
Insert caption

I do not need another photo processor that had hoops to do a simple add, and print.

What say ya'll?

With your wealth of quoted experience, you should be more than capable of understanding the flexibility of LR and when to work inside the software and when to work outside, updating the database afterward with the new file locations. Or, do you talk a bigger game than the results you can actually deliver?

A civil discourse must not include language that denigrates a person's opinion/belief by name calling, labeling or attacking the person with smears. We each and everyone have such opinions and beliefs that others may find incorrect. Disagree with the facts that bear on the issue, and let that live or die. To do otherwise is akin to resorting to swear words that may demonstrate a lack of vocabulary or defending a poorly held belief/opinion. The last sentence in the above quote is a perfect example, and sadly often used by one of our political parties to "beat-down" other opinions/beliefs.

You're welcome to use whatever software you want. But, you're not welcome to believe and spread false information.

Guess I hit a sensitive emotional nerve.

1. The DNG format is a self-choice and not a requirement to use LR. If you made that choice and don't like the DNG, only you are to blame and you're more than welcome to change your import settings in LR and stop using DNGs.

Can I import in Nikon Raw, make Lightroom edits, save in JPG/TIFF, and concurrently not save in DNG. Can I later in the JPG file adjust the Lightroom? OR, is the DNG file required? My (forgive me) understanding is that the DNG file format is necessary to store the edits in a file that requires Lightroom's directory system to manage, and that using File EXplorer loses the edits?

2. There is no side-car requirement either. It adds an additional layer of safety to the edit instruction data that are stored always inside the LR catalog. The side-car files simply externalize that data into image specific side-car files. Again, entirely your choice with zero required use.

3. If you stop the subscription, you do lose your edit ability. But, all your catalog information remains searchable and existing images, and their current state of edits, continue to be available for export into any target format and resolution. Your decision to stop your subscription again is a personal choice, entirely under your control, just as your decision to prepare (or ignore) any appropriate actions prior to stopping your individual subscription.

4. Finally, if you want to accomplish less while spending more time and effort using a generic file system rather than a imaging professional digital assessment manager, again that's your own personal choice. An industry composed of professionals and advanced amateurs and enthusiasts has determined Lightroom is the preferred toolset. Nothing could be simpler than a basic date-stamped folder structure. But, if you want to make it more complex than this simplified approach, again that's your own personal decision on how you want to waste your own time, but LR doesn't care and ingests your files from any folders you want to use. The software doesn't force you to do anything you don't want to do.

So, it seems you don't really have even two penny's worth of actual technical knowledge of Lightroom to scratch together.
You're welcome to use whatever software you want. ... (show quote)

So sorry to have insulted your prized Lightroom and wasting my time not being forced to do so. Take a deep breath Paul and think about it.

My 3 cents worth.

While Lightroom is no doubt an outstanding app it's requirement to also adopt their file management feature makes it DOA for me and my KISS needs. To my cluttered mind that adds an additional layer of complexity to a Windows standard file system now containing 6+ GB of my 50 years of photos. Import them all - I think not. Import some and not others and manage that - I think not.

And yes it is "non-destructive" but that requires a "side car of data" attached to a non-RAW file designation that has to be moved with Lightroom's file management, AND we have to factor in their unique DNG default. These pages bear testimony to the the troubles thus entailed with "lost my" and "help moving" and "stopped working" and "can't find it" pleas for help. Again KISS. Then if you divorce Adobe and can no longer edit a previous non-destructive edit it's a till death do us part. What about the steps to post an edited picture on line dicovering that the edits did not appear on the posted picture. Eh?

I don't need to catalog each photo i.e. "Jane kissing frog" "Lassie rolling over". My simple grouping: 2021-05-06 Sanibel Island, etc., works. And to grade my work - 1 - 5 stars - has to be a form of self-flaguation. "Would you like to come over and see my 5-stars sometime?"

Anyway sorry for the scarsicsm.

Looking for a W10 slideshow app that:
Imports selected pictures - drag drop or import
Allows a rearranging the sort order in the app.
Plays background music of my choosing recording same with the pictures
Can vary the display time of each picture
Has various picture fades for each picture
Allows voice over comments/narration, pausing the subject picture during the spoken comments, that are recorded with that picture in the production. (I would wear a mic and have a "hot key" to pause the picture and speak my comment about the picture. Press/click to continue with pictures and music.
All in 1020p of course.

Who could ask for anything more?

Any app out there known to you guys and gals?

How clearly do the mirrorless cameras show the image on their screens in bright sunlight? Direct light on my Kindle, automobile GPS, etc., wash out the screen.

That is exactly why I scanned two bins of my 35mm slides and a number of family photo albums. All digital making it so much easer for my sons to trash "unneeded" property after my Viking Funeral.

Amazing work and WOW results. I am going to attempt to do some macro this summer with my D850 and the Nikkor 105mm.
Would you share the details of your "setup?" A picture of the bug
How do you "off" the bugs in your pill bottle?
what does your physical setup to take the focus stack look like? Tripod? How are the bugs held in place? Lighting that is so perfect?
And how many focus settings? Number of exposures in the stack? (forgot the exact term)

Thanks in advance

That is awesome.
Would you comment on how you catch and prepare the bug for picture taking?
How do you mount the bug?

Copy of what I just sent another.

I agree that much is in the original scan of the slides. I did that scan deed in 2009 with a almost best in class slide scanner that had like a slide show carousel auto-feeding the slides for their 30-45 second hi def scan. It ran overnight and saved my mind. Several times one of the cardboard mounts jammed in the feeder to tears in the morning.

That said when the scan of all was completed and a backup on another drive made the storage bin full of slides was donated to a land fill. Now I have time this summer in between salmon fishing, to sort through 66,400 pictures and cull those that have some meaning. Bring the selected to best viewing quality and call it a day.

Agree, especially given my impatient nature - hence the quest for an AI BOT. Oh well. Thx
