One important question - who is selling it? If it's Nikon, or a Nikon dealer and you're sure it was not a gray market purchase, then I'd so go for it.

Second Street Media is providing the marketing of you picture. (fine print at the bottom of the page) Their FAQ sheet refers to copyright ownership as requirement to submit a photo. If I were you, I'd start there, with a friendly request indicating that you are the owner of the copyright - and it's your name is identified on the photo and reqest they stop selling it.

I'll bet they will. They have a legitimate business interest in avoiding copyright violation.

Nice work on your part.

Thanks everyone. I've learned something about DOF. The rules of thumb I've been using don't work in all realities, and there are some things I can still learn.

The blue cast was my overuse of the vibrance slider.

Yesterday, I was near Boston to shoot a flyover of the RAF Red Arrows. Whist they were a half hour late I was taking a few shots just to check my settings. For the jets I chose ISO 500 1/3200 f5.0 with a polarizer. Nikon D7500 and Tamron 18-400. For this shot, 65mm. Hand Held. So this test shot of Harbor should not have been tack sharp. I used single point focus centered on the Custom House - clock tower. Yet the top of the crane in the distance is sharp, the boats in the harbor are tack sharp, and even the ripples in the water look pretty sharp. If you asked me to guess, I'd F20 or higher.

Why is everything so sharp?

Perpetrators of ransomware are always outside the US. The Canon flaw would require the perpetrator to be withing 50 ft of your camera, while you have WiFi turned on. In the US that's a recipe for jail time. Just to be sure you're safe, update your firmware.

Bring the longest lease you can handhold. The waterways don’t lend themselves to tripods and smooth sailing not so much. Wildlife from tour boats is a hundred yards away and traveling away so even a leaping whale won’t look good in 200mm. When I was the light rain was frequent it’s chilly in mornings and evening (50’s, late September is cold) trust the Alaska local websites for the towns you’ll be near. They know the weather

When I go in the local shop and want to see a camera, they hand it to me with a lens and card so I can take a shot or two. If I buy it, I get a card in a sealed package. Did they leave the store's demo card in your camera when they sold it?

If you are staying with DSLR, the D7500 is the logical step up. The soon to be discontinued D500 may be a good option. I’d take the opportunity to to look to a mirrorless.

My local dealer won't do anything more complex than cleaning the sensor. It fact, he's useless. I can clean my sensor.

I am confused. But that's easily done. You use the term "eye cup", which has no glass. But then you talk about a 3rd party eye cup which I think was really an "eye piece" which has glass in it.
But even that should not effect image review and two button reset.
Something is missing, I just don't know what.

Apparently the computer thinks you've got your eye to the viewfinder so it doesn't review any pictures. You can't see the screen if you're looking through the viewfinder and if you are getting ready to shoot, you would not be pressing the 2 button reset.

A couple of months ago I dropped my camera then sent it off to Nikon to be repaired. I also asked if they could replace the eye cup. It was returned 3 weeks later; no new eye cup installed. No problem asked Amazon and they had them 2 for 8 bucks. . . delivered the next day.

Took the camera out on a shoot, it worked well except for - image review wasn't working (The photo appears on the screen immedialty after it's taken. I called Nikon and discovered 2 button reset didn't reset and who knows what else didn't work. So I sent it back to Nikon . . 2 weeks pass. The camera is returned with a note.

"We removed your eye cup, and replaced it with a Nikon eye cup. Everything meets factory spec now."

The 3rd party - supposedly made for the Nikon D7500 was covering the eye sensor. When this is covered all sorts of bad things happen - Like the image review feature, the two button reset.

Issues with Nikon WMU?

Whole other subject; I haven’t tried it in a couple years. Does Snapbride function? The last time I tried it, it worked until the first LOS then had to be restarted and reconnected on both the phone and camera.

I use a CamFi remote. It allows me to sit in the living room and see what birds are doing in the feeder. Click the shutter right from the screen without disturbing the birdies too much. (they still here the shutter click)
CamFi transmits to an iPad and most of the critical controls are available from the iPad screen. (Android too)

All the live view features - moving the focus point for example are there.
