That's Quilling, not quilting! This is thin strips of paper roled and reshaped, glued together and painted! Thanks for your nice comments!

Unreal is right! A close friend quilts and travels to quilting shows. Wonder how many other quilters are doing this high of detail.
Nice shots BTW.

Thanx for sharing.

I bought this picture in a craft store on the Ithaca (Cornell Lab of Ornithology (Sapsucker Woods) is near by) Commons over Thanksgiving. It really blew me away. The skill level and time to make these images is unreal. The artist is Caroline Spellman and you can find her art on http://www.handwork.coop/caroline-spellman. Also known as paper filigree, quilling is a craft that has been practiced since the Renaissance. Narrow strips of paper are rolled into coils, shaped, and glued into place. I took some macros and they are attached. Hope you enjoy them!

Hi Cosmo, thanks for the nice comments. The blue-footed booby was taken of course in the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. We did a 6 day cruise a year ago along with 11 days in Peru to see Inca Ruins and finally Machu Picchu.

beautiful! and by the way, where did you get the photo of the blue footed booby? That is one bird I'm hoping to see in person....eventually......but I doubt it. :-)

Some shots from the other day at Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, SC. The weather was overcast after a rain storm, so I decide to go to BGG with the 105mm Macro for some fun. Hope you enjoy the results!

Thanks Tpharm, I was on the boat ride years ago and remember the guides lecture. You can tour areas (cemeteries, white and slave) not open to the general public. They own about 15000 acres on both sides of the river and lease Huntington Beach State Park to the state. I've had a house here since 2004 and retired in 2011. We've been BBG members for a long time. I go there for birds also, but with the heat the birds are scarce. Eagles just returned, not sure where the vacation in the summer. Using a new Tamron 150 - 600 with the D7200. It makes a great combination with the crop factor for birds.

We were at the Brookgreen Gardens in May with my walkaround 300mm Tammy so I went for animals, etc. Enjoyed your macros, very nice. Did you take the boat ride through the old rice patties? Interesting history from guide.
