So it is in all advertising these days. Hamburgers don't sell but bikini babes with BBQ sauce dribbling down their boobs will sell them. Those gals stretched out on the hood of a new car sell the cars. That men's cologne doesn't smell the same in the store as it does on TV when a shiny haired, muscle ripped hunk of man walks in the moonlight with some adoring over-endowed female. Sex appeal sells curb appeal...

I was also going to say a wax seal fob. I had a cheap one when I was a young girl and my grandfather had a lovely and intricate one. At one time, all letters, notes or messages were folded and sealed with wax to protect confidentiality and privacy. It was second nature to do so and the seal was kept on the person so they were always prepared.

I have the icon as well but when I click on it, it just tells me to order or ask questions, but no cancel option. Where did you find that?

before I found out the quirks of Win10, I clicked the button to get the download when it was ready. Now that I see the issues involved, I don't want it. Will it automatically download it and install it since I accepted it or is there a way to rescind that acceptance of the offer? I can't find anything that says what to do it you changed your mind.

I've made the drive on Hwy 1 from San Diego to Westport, just above Fort Bragg, and it is one of the most beautiful drives in the state. Great to see it pretty much all in one place. I think I recognize some of Morro Bay and areas around Mendocino in this. Thanks for the video post.

In Galveston, we had lots of banana trees in the yard. They are not like Century plants or Aloes and will bloom every year. They like to grow in clumps so we always left our "sprouts" alone and we'd get a nice clump. During a hard winter the outer ones helped keep the inner ones safe from dying out in the cold.

rain tarp, bowie knife, fire-starter kit (matches are not going to last long), tin cup and blanket. I can make everything I need to survive with these things including fish hooks, line, and nets. And the Bowie can be lashed to a long stick to make a great spear for hunting and protection. If I could take just one more thing, I think I'd like to pack a change of underwear...just in case.

I have a redwood in my front yard that I have raised from an 8 inch tall sapling that I got at our state fair 10 years ago. Last year I noticed 50% of the foliage was brown. This ear, 2/3rds of it are browned and the bark is turning silver in many spots. I don't think it will live another year in the drought and it is huge. I hate to think about bringing it down... It's very sad to see.

The insurance we were offered by Amtrak was for delays. Because there is a lot of traffic on the rails and freight trains have the right of way, passenger trains are hardly ever on time. The insurance was for delays of more than 6 hours (I believe it was 6...). Seems reasonable that if you arrange for a rental car or for someone to pick you up or you have an appointment at the end of your trip, and your train is 6 or more hours late getting there, or you miss a connection because of a delay, that you be compensated. After all, if you were to arrive at 7 p.m. but delays got you there at 2 a.m., are you really going to have your friend or family wake up and come get you? I've been 4 hours late before...have yet to be an entire 6 hours late. My husband just took a US train tour and at one stop his connection was 4 hours late getting there. Thankfully it was the last leg of his journey.

not illegal. My brother cut himself off from the family and was doing a lot of drugs and drinking heavily. His health was poor and he was not very coherent most of the time from pain and pain meds. My sisters and I were very concerned he would OD or have a fatal accident and with no one other than us to take care of final expenses and arrangements, we pooled our resources and took a policy out on him that would take care of final arrangements. All we needed was his birthdate and social security number and keep up the premiums. If someone wants to invest/gamble on the length of your life and do it with their own money, they can do it.

I find this very sad. I told all my husbands (yes, more than one) that as long as they were truthful and told the truth no matter what, we could get through anything together...even infidelity. The first two must have thought I was lying because #1 never confessed even with documented proof and #2 did (after the first transgression) confess to several short affairs and we worked through them. I did not leave him over those happenings but after 39 years of marriage he had "handed me one too many bricks to carry". I had lived through one thing after another and many had happened back in the '70s so that it was really only one minor incident that triggered me to say "I want a divorce." To the world it looked petty but after 39 years of waiting for him to revert back to the man I had married, I just decided I didn't have any fight left in me and needed to move on before we ended up resenting each other. I have to say, as horrid as this was for you, she must have still had feelings for you or she would have asked for a divorce before setting up a second household. In the end she would have been better off and so would have you. Whether you know it or not right now, this is not earth-shattering. It just means you get to start life again on your own terms. That just may be a good thing.

So well said imntrt1. Sorry to say, I am not a fan of cops...personally. Our behaviors and temperaments class badly; however, professionally, I admire them and the work they do each and the situations they are forced into. It's nice to see that some people understand that others are cops because they aren't equipped to handle the job and danger and make decisions on the spot that will effect lives. Thank you for speaking out and so frankly. Carry on...........

I propose a ban on white sheets! Every time I see one it makes me think about the KKK and their reign of terror. Ban all medical experimentation or medical research because that's exactly what the Nazis did to their prisoners. It goes on and on. Bunk. Pure bunk. Study it, learn from it, don't turn away from it. Be proud of progress and ashamed of retreat but don't turn away.

Off the top of my head, I don't remember the name of it, but there is a very large sculpture in Brussels that forbids more than 1/3 of it to be photographed at one time. You are NOT permitted to photograph the entire thing at once and if caught posting that or using it anywhere, they do prosecute. It's been 4 years since I worked with the attorneys on these issues, so I am not able to remember the names of all of them, but several places around the world have these restrictions in some form.

You said it was illegal to TAKE the photo. Nobody is going to arrest you for taking a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night. I may not be clear about what usage they will go after, but it is the usage and not taking the photo that is subject to the law.

The signs posted say "take photos" not "use photos" so I was only saying what the signs say. If seen, the authorities will issue a warning and take your information...

I am sorry if my verbiage was not precise. The intent was the same.
