Sounds like you possess a very valuable quality - introspection (something that's occasionally lacking on this forum). Glad this worked out for you!

Well, i don't know what that is, but I'm glad i have it lol. Thanks for your help on this.

Again, 1000% agree with you. I hate that they have to change anything. I just want my computer to work, I don't care "how" it works. Same goes for some tutorials on here, I'm glad we have so many knowledgeable people, but as soon as they start talking algorhythms, etc., my eyes glaze over.

I just forced myself to sit down with various resources (books, videos, etc.) to find out what buttons to push when. Dry computer books are awful, but in this case, I know the computer industry isn't going to go backwards, so I personally just bit the bullet and dove in. I'm still much more comfortable with Win7, but alas, I figured I'm not getting any younger, and learning when I "have no choice" will probably be more difficult when I'm even older.

Not trying to talk you into anything. Your decision is whatever is right for you. I'm just sharing my experience, and telling you that even though I still like Win7 better, 10 isn't horrible once you get used to it.

After being frustrated and mad, mostly at myself and not the computer, i decided to rethink this and try Windows 10 again. Guess what??? I honestly think i like it! I believe i was being a little stubborn, which is normal for me, so i just sit down, took my time and realized that it's probably a lot better than Windows 7. Imagine that lol!!!

Hello, again, Tom !

Here is what I would do:

Log onto your new computer and key in "Adobe". Once Adobe's website opens, look for where they have the word "Contact". Once you locate this, you will find a telephone number that you may use to call them. Then, place the call, explain your problem and give them a ball park figure when you had first purchased PSE12 from them.
I am certain they will have a record of your having purchased the PSE12 software from them whereas they will follow up by giving you the original key code for you to use to install the software into your new computer.

"Get 'er done", and best of luck ! :)

I hear you. I hated it at first, but figured that Win7 will be gone someday, so I bit the bullet, and started researching as much as I could on "how to" in Win 10.

It took me a few weeks of really working at it, now it feels as comfortable as 7, and believe it or not, even on my really old machines, they are faster.

Good luck with whatever way you go. We're rooting for you

Thanks, i guess I'm just really frustrated. I'm not very savvy when it comes to electronics and computers. I'm a Simple Man, sort of like Lynyrd Skynyrd lol! Love that Band.

Sorry that didn't work out for you. Can you still by a new machine with Windows 7 installed?

Yes, they are available through most vendors. I buy all my gear from B&H. The Windows 7 computers are a little higher, but in my opinion well worth it.

Yup, Win10 issue. The regular media player is gone. You just won't get the pop ups any more, but should be able to access the drive the "hard way" :)

Yea, I'm finding that out "The hard way". The seller is taking the computer back after a lot of discussion. I can tell you, in my opinion Windows 10 is surely not a "10". Give me my Windows 7 any day!

Here are a couple additional links to auto play options. I know you mentioned turning it on, but perhaps you might want to set additional options.

This is an OS issue, not likely a hardware problem. Assuming it's Windows 10, just click on "start"(lower left corner), then "my PC", and you should see the drive (typically D: ) under devices and drives. Right click on the drive, and you'll see a number of options including "pin to start" or "create shortcut" - Selecting either will give you one-click access to the drive the next time you start your computer. Hope that helps.

Chris

Thanks Chris, i will surely try this. I hope it works because i hate returns and exchanges.

Ouch. On my laptop it sometimes takes two minutes before I can access my Android phone or tablet when connected. Sometimes the "what do you want to do" window pops up minutes after I've started working on them...

Good to know, maybe I'll try again, thanks.

You might consider going back to where you purchased it and finding out if there is a simple solution to your problem before you throw the baby out with the bath water.

I have tried a number of times to correct it with them with no success. They said i can exchange it but i just hate to have to send it back, wait for another one and then have the same issue. That's the reason i tried here, thinking maybe someone knew a solution. Thanks though for the suggestion.

Is it possible that you only have photos on the CD and the computer asks what you want to do with it? Then you have to tell it to open with explorer or your photo application? If there are only file folders on the CD the computer does not know what program to auto-start. If this is true, the same thing might happen on a new computer.

We need to know the actual steps you have to take to see what is happening.

No, i understand what you're saying. On my old computer, there would be a window that popped up as soon as i inserted the CD asking me how i wanted to open it. On my new one, nothing comes up on my monitor at all.

I just got the Dell 3000 Mini Tower Desktop Computer. It's o.k. except i can't get the CD/DVD drive to show on the monitor without going through a lot of steps. I have everything set on "Auto Play" but still get nothing on the monitor. I can exchange it, but i don't know whether to try the same one or try another model. Does anyone have any suggestions or maybe help me with the issue on this one?

I use my computer mostly for my online banking, limited social media, email, and my stored photos, which i would like to have plenty of RAM for. I would like to stay at a maximum of around $600.00 if possible.
