I have both the 430 exii and the original 430 ex, both are great flashes. If you can find a used 430 ex it's worth it to pick it up. The 430 exii is priced around $280 new.

I put an add on Craigslist this past week asking to buy a used 430exii in great shape. In less than 12 hours I got a response, met the seller and for $175 got my self what looks like and operates like a brand new out of the box 430exii.

Will someone please post a photo taken with a "L"lens and then take the same shot with a kit lens so we can see the difference ?

Great question and thanks BigBear for posting the photos. I got my answer. Time to start saving a few bucks here and there. I still need to decide on what type of L lens will work best for my use.

HI Folks,

Thanks for the feedback, lots of good advice.

Roger, you pose a great question "What CAN'T you do with your current lenses"? Real food for thought. Right now I really can't answer that honestly.

I really need to look before I leap, plenty of food for thought. I know I haven't maxed out the potential of the 18-135.

You have all given me things to think about.

I'm shooting with a Canon 60d that came with the 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. I've also have a 50mm prime. Landscape photography is my preferred type of shooting. I'm considering adding a lens, but not sure which route to take. I'm on a budget and would like to keep it in the $600 range give or take.

I like the 50 for close ups of objects be it model cars, flowers, or small objects. I like the bokeh effect I'm able to create with it. Photography is still a new hobby and I'm trying to find my way around i.e. which lens to use what settings etc, etc. I find the 50 gives me ways to be creative without having a lot of experience.

It's hard to go wrong with the SD series, and my real favorites are the S90, S95, S100. Image quality is so good that they can almost replace my SLRs. a body .

Ditto for my S95. I keep it with me at all times fits nicely in any pocket.

The old style Minolta lenses are all manual. If they are zoom they are not up to todays lenses in sharpnes. I used Minoltas in film days (at least 5 bodies & 10 lenses) and looked into using them on digatal and decided it was not worth the effort. I did have a few t-mount lenses that work fine. If one of your lenses is a spiritone 400 (I think 1/2 the slr owners of the 60's-70's got one) It is a t mount and will work with the mount that is under $10 on eBay. - Dave

The more I read comments the more I believe it's probably not worth the effort. I haven't had film loaded in this camera in many years. I'll probably pick up a roll or 2 and shoot with it just to get a better picture ( no pun intended ).

I have a Minolta t102 camera that belonged to a family member.
It came with a couple of lenses. Is it possible thru using an adapter to use these lenses on a Canon 60d?

I tried the trial of zenfolio. Very nice, easy to use, so I upgraded and have a paid version. Thanks for your input.

HI Folks,
Thanks for your input Zen Folio certainly looks interesting, I'll have to check it out and try the free trial. $25 or $50 per year is reasonable, haven't ruled out Word Press yet either, but Zen Folio looks like exactly what I had in mind.

Thanks again.

So I broke down and bought a new iMac and CS5 this evening. I haven't used any version of photoshop in more than 10yrs.

Are there any good places for tutorials, or how to's for making the most of CS5? I realize there are other programs that can do certain things "easier", but I don't own them yet an want to get the most out of my recent purchase.

I've searched the board, and found random stuff, but not quite what I'm thinking is out there.

Thanks,
Skrach
