I have been turning pens for about 1 year. Like Macro Photography, I am getting better. This is the first circuit board pen I have turned.
Does it do anything electronic? Nice macro 1:1 too.

Trees are going from green to yellow and brown quickly.

It's just so peaceful, really well thought out composition.

Wow what a night of back an forth ball running.
The Lobos played an outstanding game against a tough rival and wound losing in the 4th quarter but not without a major fight. Here are a few shots from the game.
I shot the first half with the Kit 55-250 lens and changed over to my 70-200 L for half time and the remainder of the game.
The final shot is from 75 yards away and cropped for detail.

"University of New Mexico Vs Boise State Football" Those are some stunning shots, I've tried shooting under the lights
and have had less than acceptable results. "The Catch" is perfect, you could not have caught it at a better moment.
The crowd in the background, the hands at the exact second of the catch, the faces are dark enough so they don't distract.
Also in the story, is the UNM guy going to rip the ball loose. Your camera settings and frames/sec where Right-on.
Very well done Jim, those sport photographers earn their money.

I took this photo last year using prime focus through my 33 year old Dynamax 8 telescope... I don't think that it was posted before but I might be mistaken... I take many photos at a time and sometimes I don't go through all of them... I also used Photoshop Elements 12 that I didn't have last year...

Nice job Bruce.

I live just 30 miles from Atlanta, GA and have had to cope with heavy light pollution. My skies at night are a sickly gray color.
Recently I purchased a Light Pollution Reduction filter intended for visual use. I gave it a try with my astro set-up to see what would happen. The results were staggering to say the least. There was a slight color shift which had to be corrected as best as I could, but other than that minor problem, well check out the photos and you decide. All were taken with a 72mm dia Astro-Tech at f/6 coupled to a Canon 60Da camera (red sensitive). Exposures are in total minutes and is a stack x number, each exposed for 30 seconds.

"Light Pollution Reduction filter" Inquiring minds want to know which one did you purchase?? Great work.

Hi Craig. Do the AF Fine Turn in camera. When I got my 28-300 I almost took it back. But doing this made it tack sharp for me.
Erv

Hi Erv, I have a Saved Value of 0 for my 28-300mm set to go. Just to get me started what + or - value did you wind up with?

I agree with Algol, very nice shot.
I have used Registax with pretty decent results as well.
It takes a little bit of effort but usually worth it.
Keep going, your doing well.

Just for grins take a look at this video clip I shot with my 11"
You'll see why some pics look great and others don't even though you don't touch anything. This was on a night of moderate twinkle.

That is a really nice video inspite of the atmospheric waves. Do you Stack using AVI or MPEG?

Hi Scott. I just sold my old 80-400 and got the new one. I was very happy with the old 80-400. It was pretty sharp after I added sharpness in the camera. But I had to do that with the 28-300 too. I got the new one because it focuses really fast compared to the old one. I am trying to do some birding. The new one scares me when it focuses.:) Pictures are a little better than the older one. But not by much.
Erv

Hello Erv, Are you referring to the "Set Picture Control" settings for sharpness contrast etc. or " AF Fine Tune" your lens.
My 28-300mm needs a tune-up till I can get my Tamron 150-600mm.
Thanks Craig

Like Bill H. above I don't use live view, I don't use the GPS, I don't use the WiFi. All those are battery eaters.
I am pretty amazed at the battery life of the EN-EL14a.

BTW, the "new, improved" EN-EL14a does actually perform longer than the EN-EL14. My spares are EN-EL14 from my broken D5100 and I only get 400 or so images from them in the D5300.

YES YES the EN-EL14a battery lasted at least twice as long as the EN-EL14 in my D5300.

I use Helicon Focus. The other industry "standard" would be Zerene Stacker. I tried multiple programs and spoke with developers of both Zerene & Helicon. How cool is that?!
My decision came down to two factors: Zerene was not available for Macs at that time (I would guess that has changed) AND Helicon would allow stacking of raw files-- this may also have changed. So I wasn't patient enough to wait. I have a number of stacks in this forum.
Fstop22 is the best (in my opinion) of doing hand-held stacks. He uses Zerene with incredible results. I've done a few hand-held-- but the bulk of what I've done are tripod-mounted.
ApeerR also stacks & recently posted his "field rig". He's a very good stacker as well. I'm sure there are others--and I don't mean too leave anyone out.
Oh Tinusbum comes to mine-- not sure what program he uses.

Thanks to LoneRangeFinder & A-PeeR, I'll give both a try and see which I'm most comfortable with. Craig
