Stopped in a park on my way from work.
Look how lucky I got! Never seen them before.
Taken with my new D500 - quite an upgrade...

I've seen an adult sitting on the branch Friday evening when I drove by. As far as I remember from 2 years ago, the young one learned to fly sometimes in June, so I guess they'll still be around for a while..

Im thinking about heading that way today to see if I have any luck seeing these guys and see if those pelicans are still there somewhere. Where did you see them? What access? Lately I've spent a lot of time in our backyard, so I took some pics there, but I need to get out more before all the little birds hide in the trees once the leaves grow big...

You can't disable the flash in the full Auto mode, but you should have another mode that is Auto without flash. Check your manual.

Pauli’s,
Jew a newbie so I’m curious. Wouldn’t mounting the camera + lens in such a verticals position (with lens mount attached to tripod) be the same as carrying your camera by the lens? I thought this was a no-no.

I'm not sure if I understand your question.
That's what big lenses have a tripod collar for. You will break something if you put the body on a tripod and then attach heavy lens to it.

I like the colors and the look of a beginning to a Si-Fi movie. Now awaiting the Space Ship to cross the screen.
