I looked on Amazon for a book to compliment my manual for the D750. The only book listed was by Busch for, get this, $2,500 new. Am I halusinating? Does anyone know where I can buy this book for reasonable price? His spiral bound field guide is $20. Is that a useful item? I would prefer the book.

Thanx in advance for help.

Pete

Completely agree the lens is great and a good value paired with the purchase of the body.

Sould have provided more info. Budget isn't an issue, but not unlimited. More interested in quality. I will be hand holding. Thank you for the suggestions. I have been to lens review sites and find them difficult. Good to have insight from fellow photogs.

I have the kit lens, 24-120. I am going to a Formula 1 race in March and am sure I would need a longer lens. I can buy new or used in good condition or rent. I would appreciate input as to which manufacture and lens you would recommend.

Thank you in advance for your responses. I learn something everyday on the Hog.

Hoping is not a tax strategy. Anyone who knows what is going to happen to taxes in 2017 or 2018 speak up. Also, when converting a traditional 401k or IRA to a Roth, yes, you pay ordinary income tax, just as you do when the government "forces you to" at the rise old age of 70 1/2. It is not possible to evade the Tax Collector unless you cheat. Best of luck with that.

I agree that monitors right out of the box are way too bright. Mine were. I used Spyder pro5 to calibrate both of my viewsonic monitors and was amazed at the difference in brightness that the Spyder set. Well worth doing.

Well, I certainly started something! Thank you to all for the cogent discussion of Web vs Brick. I bought my D750 today at Dodd Camera in Cincinnati. Same price as Amazon, Adorama, B&H, etc. they threw in a battery, storage card, cleaning kit. Nice gesture. I did my research on UHH, the web, and photographers. Couldn't be happier.

Thanx again, Pete

Thanx to all. The responses reinforce my belief that local is the way to go. Price isn't everything. I'll buy next week, a new camera is always a good day.

Thanx for the reply, yes Dodds is still here. Pete's was bought out by Dodds national I believe, bought my D7000 from Pete's. Eden Park, City View Tavern, all great places to shoot and drink. Cincy is in a renaissance.

Thank you to all for responding. I bought the Spyder5Pro and calibrated my monitors without difficulty. Very easy. I was surprised to see how bright I had my monitors set or how they came out of the box. Glad I did it. Photos look much better in Lightroom. Thanx again.

I am going to add a Nikon D750 and am wondering about your experiences buying from a local photo shop vs the on-line retailers. I would imagine price will be an issue and difference. Other than that, isn't supporting a local shop in the interest of the photographer? I would appreciate a discussion and advice. Thank you in advance. I find the UHH most informative and entertaing at times. As a sort of new photographer this site has been very helpful.

I am curious about refurbished cameras. Looking for a D750 and would go refurbished, however, do you get everything like a manual and such as if you bought new?
