I'll be spending a week within a few miles of here the first full week of October. Does anyone have any knowledge of this area? I'm hoping to spend a little time walking a few trails.

Round barns, the "jug rock" and covered bridges in southwest Indiana.

Catch the "moon bow" at Cumberland Falls in Kentucky?

Worked with many Canadians...they all laugh at the American healthcare system. One quoted that Americans were too worried about making a profit and the returns on their 401k rather than having a healthy life.

Furthermore, the Afordable Care Act is not socialized healthcare. It is making sure someone will profit from someone else's misfortune. It doesn't have enough wording in it to ensure that people get the coverage they deserve over the insurance provider's quest for high profit.

An hypocritical, empty and absurd compliment? That what you are talking about? You standards of what a good photographic image are not only low....its not existent and, yeah, that is YOUR problem. What you posted is not a compliment but an outright lie. Its this behavior what perpetuates mediocrity and such bad, bad images in this section. No matter what pile someone posts it will sure get a compliment by the likes of you and the usual bandwagon. The OP will go on thinking what a great "photographer" he or she is when in reality, he or she, is being deceived.... That, to me, is disrespectful but perhaps you couldn't even begin to grasp this concept.

And, obviously, you could not expand your comment from even the most basic technical point of view, no surprises there.

I remember being told in school that the US was converting over back in the '80's. Still waiting.

I browse through here about every other day. All through appreciation of what one may call art. I have seen a few pics to be a little questionable, but for the most part, very artsy.

Keep up the good work!

The Methodist church is where Johnny and June Cash got married.

I live here in Franklin. Some nice old homes out on West Cedar Street if you ever come back.

I like #2 a lot because it is hard to actually "see" a waxwing's eyes. Of course, the others are great as well.

I'm running a little late with getting a pic posted... life does happen! I think this was a 10 second exposure. I did some shots of varying exposure times but I can't find them. Weather permitting, I'm going to shoot a few more this weekend barring no one else has my weekend planned for me.

And yes, those are the lights of Nashville in the back ground.

Willdell, have you tried to see what your skylimit is yet? How long can you expose for without blowing out your image, and what lens are you using? I am assuming you will be using a static mount not a tracking platform of some type. I have always read that focal length divided by 600 will give you your Max exposure length in seconds. If you are trying for trails the best advice is to limit the time between exposures to limit the dashed line effect.

Have you tried stacking exposures to bring out faint details?

I'm just a beginner. Canon 7d with 18-55. Looking to get a better lens soon (possibly a Rokinon 14 f2.8 or 16mm f2.0). I recently downloaded Deep Sky Stacker and do have a good tripod.

What images I've taken have been so so. DSS looks a little intimidating but I'm reading, watching videos and following this board. I'm aware of the 500-600 rule and try to follow it but my equipment and skills still need a little upgrading and practice.

I'll try find a "decent" pic and post it latter tonight.

I'll probably order one of those "poor man's light filters" this weekend. This thread is only a few days old anyways. I did get a few laughs though. 😜

Wyoming comes to mind....

Too much foliage everywhere we landed on our family marathon run.
I couldn't see the sky for the trees.
Do they make a obstacle filter?
And while we are there, how about a cloud filter?

I'm not sure about a cloud filter...but Stihl makes a great tree filter.
