Hmmm, strange looking, but obviously it did the job! How old is it?
Thanks for sharing.
Hey Folks,
Thanks for all the comments and great advice and experiences.
I think I got my question answered.
I didn't mean to start "A Family Feud" over the question.
I did make the mistake of using the word weatherproof.
Sorry for that!!
Happy Holidays, and a great time to shoot indoors. :-)

You just need a weather proofed lens with it and you should be good to go. As far as how good nikons seal is, I couldn’t tell you, but if it is anything like what Olympus produces, you are good to go. I had to break the ice twice to zoom while out there shooting. Once home, you just put it in the sink and give it a shower to melt the ice.
Geez! That's impressive!!
Hello Folks,
Quick question: (if not too silly).
My D500 boasts the body has "full weather proofing", one of the reasons they didn't include a pop up flash, says Nikon.
My fear is that the lens and body connection wouldn't be. What about the lens itself?
I'm sure one of you seasoned shooters out there may have an answer from experience.
I know there are sleeves and bags to wrap up your equipment, but for an occasional couple of shots in the rain or snow???
Thanks In Advance.

What about merely using the RAW converter program softwares what come with specific camera systems like Nikon, Canon, etc? I know they leave out all the various creative functions of the "big" programs but might that not be an issue if we only want to process and enhance our raw files for personal viewing or printing?
Mikedent, that's exactly what I am doing currently, just want to get something with a little more "effects and such" to enhance pictures, especially of the Grandkids!
Thanks for your reply!
Thanks Guys, I appreciate your advice. As mentioned, I need to learn what I need, and if the upgrade is worth it. I need to learn the basics of the program first!! Thanks Again...
Good Morning Hogs, A Shout Out To All Our Vets!
Does anyone have advice or suggestions on "editing software" relating to PS Elements?
I have 10 installed and haven't used it much for lack of understanding how to use it very well. Adobe is offering an upgrade to 18 for $69. bucks ending tomorrow.
I really would like to use it if it's better than "Windows Photo Gallery", what I have been using, but now not responding well at all.
I did a search on the site but didn't find a topic on this, however I'm sure there was one somewhere, sometime.
I appreciate anyone's experience with, or about the Elements 18.
Thanks Folks.

Hopefully, I am replying to the person about the flash question. First it must be said that there are many ways to get the result you want. I know what I know and it works. Shoot these flash exposures in manual. Never go above f5.6 It is too much work for the flash. I typically work at f4 or more open. camera set at 1/60. if you sync at less go to rear sync flash. Use your Iso depending on the conditions. bright envorironment, maybe start at 400 or less. dark environment, easily go to 1600 iso. I use a D7200 and there is no noise there. With flash I work with in 15 ft. Ok to use modifiers there. beyond 15ft. take off the modifiers. I only use my Nikon flash on "A." if you need a slight more light, click the + button and it raises the power by a 1/3 each time. To some up:
camera manual
"play" with iso
Flash at "A"
use rear sync below 1/60
I have a ton of samples at
www.delottphoto.com To me, the difference between a pro and amateur, the pro uses his flash.
Hopefully, I am replying to the person about the f... (

Thanks Much Folks for the suggested resources, and taking the time to reply; Great suggestions and food for thought.
Practice-Practice-Practice!!!
Hello Hogs,
Does anyone have a suggestion for "GOOD Instructional Reading" for Indoor Flash Photography?
Flash drives me nuts! I just can't seem to get the correct combination of shutter speed and aperture to work.
I'm either too bright or too dark most of the time.
I am shooting with a Nikon D500, 910 flash, bounce, diffusers, yadda, yadda, yadda!
I just did a church wedding ceremony for a friend, no stress from them, they just wanted a few shots of the church, since the reception would be held out of state with a hired photographer. Some elderly family members couldn't make the trip, so I was asked to get a few shots at the church with those folks. (piece of cake, right)?
I did it, but what a hassle trying to find the right settings, so frustrating.
Thanks for any suggestions.
