Yes it is for sures a john deere, model H a later model with electric starter. That is why the fly wheel has a tin cover, no longer needed for starting.
I see no fur on its tail indicating mange, would not allow it in the same area as your pets if you have any, I would contact your local wildlife management and have it removed.
Great ending to what could have been a bad story. The fishermen are using some very heavy tackle, any idea are they fishing for large stripped bass possibly?
