I am a fan too but their current models do not excite me.
You are not really old compared to me , 95 in a few weeks, and still enjoying photography and the community of fellow photographers that I met with this week at the annual meeting of the Professional Photographers of NC
Go for it-- a great camera with a huge range of available lenses, both pro quality and otherwise. You can't go wrong.
Like your shot Cd. The main limitation of the m4/3 would seem to be the limitation of the maximum size that a quality print can be produced because of the small sensor. However I regularly print 17" by 22" sizes without any feeling that they are inferior to what could be obtained from a full size sensor although I have not made a direct comparison. i.e. making a print from both and critically examining them for differences. Would like to know if any one has done this.
My dad fought in WW1 at Gallipoli and in France and Belgium, started as a Lt. and at war's end was a Lt Colonel with the 24th battalion. He also was awarded the Military Cross for valour in action. I am very proud of him and it is a wonder he survived that dreadful war. He always marched in Ballarat on Anzac Day at the head of the battalion. My uncle was killed in the last days of the war and I was named after him.
I AM ENVIOUS!.Fly fishing?
Interesting that you did this with the Oly micro 4/3 camera system which proves the point that these small cameras do a great job.
Use your style if that is what you like and let the world appreciate it or not. And there is always someone out there that will appreciate it.
Thank you for sending this thoughtful article, Mark. I am a committed Olympus user. Have most of their lenses ,except the pricey professional 300mm and the latest zoom. For many years I have used the Canon MK5 and L quality lenses with much satisfaction
but I do not see much difference in the image quality with the landscape shots I take - with the exceptions of low light performance
and blowing up prints to wall size. I print my own with a Epson SC p800 printer.. I am also based in Raleigh.
I have yet to use the high res mode but your shots encourage me to do that and also because LR has finally updated their raw support.
A winning shot with a wide angle lens-- wonderful clouds too.
Superb, masterly utilization of drone and video photography. Makes me want to give up taking stills and get into this new technology.
What specific equipment did you use ,i.e. the drone type or brand and camera?
Nice, good work and with a good eye for composition
Thank you for those shots. As a Aussie who grew up in Melbourne and who hiked many of those areas (about 60 years ago, am now 94 years old and my hiking days are over) it was an nostalgic experience for me to see those views. I am living in Raleigh, NC with a strong interest in photography in my retirement years.
