Quote The Raven, "Never More". Well, as someone who can be a bit compulsive at what they do at times, I'll keep on painting, at least for now.

This is a raven that I sketched and painted using a digital painting program and a graphic display tablet using stylus to emulate the painting brushwork.

Quick charcoal sketches appear to work best for me at this stage of my learning curve of digital sketching and painting.

My recent zebra was an attempt at a one-color piece with the white of the canvas used as negative space. It was quick and did not require much detail so I chose to do a dairy calf as another piece using the same concept of one color and negative space.

I've included an image of the rough brushwork to illustrate how the process flowed.

I posted a zebra that I made this morning and because a zebra is similar in composition to a horse, why not create a horse?

This is a sketch of a horse using a digital charcoal pencil as the brush for the digital paint program.

Well done...I certainly like it...if I'm allowed to say that.

This is the completed version of the baby elephant that I posted the initial phase of line-art and blocking in the base colors.

The elephant was created using a digital paint program with the aid of a digital graphic display tablet and a stylus for the brushwork.

What would two lions be without an elephant? Well, I'm giving one a go and time will tell how it turns out.

I always start with a loose fast sketch for concept and basic form. I follow that up with line art which will be used for blocking colors and to aid in the placement of shadows and highlights.

This is what the third phase of a session looks like. More of this to follow (if all goes well).

I'm a Leo and I have a lion head tattooed on my shoulder (it may help identify my body someday).

This is my attempt at using the pastel chalk brushes in the digital painting program. It was a two-cup of coffee effort this morning so it's mostly fast and loose brush strokes. I used a fine chalk pencil brush to create the outline of the face.

Am exploring the look of Film Noir, while staying away from the "usual" scenes one associates with the term. Your feedback is welcomed.

Shivers....waiting for someone....or did they go away?
