Definitely a good use of leading lines to those mountains in the distance.

Those spans between poles look awfully short for no more wire load than they are carrying. But I never designed open wire pole lines in my career, just cable on steel messenger. Since this is in the mountains, I suppose the ice load could really add up.

Stan, ice and snow are not the problem here, Gale force winds and earthquakes are the big issue. July 2019 we had the 6.9 and a few days later the BIG ONE 7.4 which did considerable damage on the Navy Base, several billion dollars for repair and replacement of major facilities. Thanks for looking!! Cliff

Thanks for the explanation…but I can come up with a more interesting story than that😂

OK , you got me. NWC China Lake encompasses 1million + acres of real estate with multiple test sites and laboratories that consume massive amounts of power. Rumor has it there is a hangar/storage facility that has been dug into the side of one of the larger hills with lots of razor wire topped fencing and signage establishing that it is a restricted area indicating lethal force is authorized to repel intruders. The standard answer when questioned about the existence of said facility is met with a blank stare and "I have no idea of what you are asking about."
Dannj, is that better? Cliff

Dan' your viewing and remarks on my Poll Line Rd photo prompted me check your home page and look at some your handi work. The ponds, swamp, fog and the mention of the smells helped bring me into the setting. Very well done and thanks for sharing. Cliff

Nice job of removing the lines, but what’s the point of the poles without the lines? To me, lines are sometimes better left alone.

Thanks for looking Jay. Cliff

Better with the lines. Got me thinking about where they go😳

The photo was taken onboard Naval Air Test Center China Lake. The power lines lead to a test site in the next valley to the east. Thanks for looking. Cliff

Just tested "remove power lines" in Luminar Neo - I hope you don't mind. Great photo (yours)

I don't mind. We all don't see the same things when looking at the same subject. Rorschach test anyone??
Thanks for looking and the FIX. Cliff

Just going through some older shots from Point n Shoot Nikon S8100, carries easily and not heavy. A row of power lines that run off out sight beyond the hills, therefore Poll Line Rd or Vanishing Point. I could have cropped the power lines out but that cut the top off the first two poles. The evil of two lessors. Thanks for looking. Cliff

I shot this a couple of years ago, never really liked it much. So, I started playing with in editing, lighter, darker, removed colour, hmm better, added the dark edging, now I like that. Very moody. Pentax Program Plus with A50 1.7 lens and I don't remember anything about the film except the obvious.
