[quote=jaymatt]A couple of weeks ago, I asked a question about my non-functioning Canon SX 60 and got several responses--thanks for them.
I returned the camera to Canon, explaining the circumstances, and I'm pleased to say that a new SX 60 replacement was delivered to me today, free of charge.
Apparently the Canon warranty means something.

Thanks, Canon!

Hi 'jaymatt'... -- First, THAT is Great News.!!! --- Second, a question: ...is the 'image quality' of the new SX60, the SAME as: ...either your old SX60{I have NOT read your original post}; ...or as good as YOU would like it to be.? - if you remember, some hogs had felt that the IQ of the SX60 was LESS than that of the SX50. I would MUCH prefer the 21mm (wide end) of the SX60, especially for: 'FULL-Table' (i.e. males standing behind seated females) type pictures; specifically at Weddings and/or special events; ...provided, of course, that the SX60's 'Pop-up' flash provides fully adequate illumination at the Corners of the Picture (i.e. at 21mm), since I do NOT wish to carry a 'Flash-head', as well as the camera itself. --- So then 'jaymatt', will you come back again, after you've fully tested your 'NEW' SX60 ...and POST your findings as to the QUALITY of the IMAGES at both Full-wide and Full-tele.??? --- --- "Thanks John", (my 15 grandkids and their cousins/friends are JUST NOW starting to be at that 'Marrying-Age'!!!)

Maybe back in March 2012, when that was first released...The A6000 has surpassed it...and you get a electronic viewfinder.

Hi 'Cdouthitt'... The NEX-7 has an excellent EVF; but for 'Photography-LEARNING' purposes, Sony's 'Tri Navi' system is unbeatable, since with your eye pressed TO the EVF, you get WYSIWYG in the viewfinder, by turning the Three Wheels, with your right thumb. --- --- IMHO, the NEX-6 is better in Several ways for Taking pictures, as is the A6000; ...HOWEVER, for a first camera, with which to LEARN; as well as give you OUTSTANDING Pictures, I would give my 13 and 15yr old Grandchildren, the NEX-7. --- --- Here are two Reviews to make my points:

I'm a beginner and am looking for my first DSLR. I had a 35mm Minolta outfit back in the early 90's and ever since wanted a DSLR but couldn't afford it.
Now, I have some money (not a lot) but, I'm having a hard time with all the options.
I do mostly portraits and scenic's and wildlife pics. What brand/options/lens ect. DSLR would you suggest?
I had my eye on a Canon EOS Rebel T7i that just came out but I'm unsure if that's a good choice since I've been out of the game for so long.
Is the Canon a good choice for quality/ options/ ease of use/ availability of accessories/ money ect. or should I go with a different model? or Brand?
I would love everyone's input.

Two lights, one strong from up perhaps 60* out from wall about 45*? Another weaker one closer to the wall but at 30*up angle? In this photo UHH mod by uploading the brights are a bit bright. Prob OK in your file. The wall is distracting, but only because it is not THE wall we all love so much [smile]

The upper body, cropped just barely below her left elbow and then crop rt side of the photo would concentrate us on the beautifully rounded full breasts and the magnificent drape of the curly locks and on enlarging with control&+ I see that she is pulling at her lip, interesting effect lost on the smaller image.

I like this shot but only the upper part.... Nothing wrong with lower, just that the story is on the upper body/head. Why do I spend such effort analyzing your photos? Because you are the master and I am your student! If one is given epicurean receipts even if by observation, then one may be able to make Chile as good as Wendy's. If I could reproduce your fine work then I would be proud.

Rob, you get an A++ for this one and so does Leia. Feet are here part of the photograph and well posed, knee cap filled by bending leg, pubic hair there rather than razor burn bumps!, The support by the wire mesh suitcase is transparent and interesting, hip-breast tilt complement each other, some may think her right shoulder is too prominent [debatable], face/head well posed, AND yep, the hands look great [well tamed and the fingers like each other].

PS: like this wall and suitcase also...

Hi 'dpullum'... As usual, an excellent analysis; you REALLY should consider offering classes on What YOUR Standards are relative to: 'The Perfect-Model as 'Posed', 'Lit' and the 'Perspective' from which the picture is taken; ...to include the 'WHY' in each case. -- For me, the shape of the breast is paramount; I've always found that the '84 Traci Lords had the perfect breasts. -- Thanks.!!!

Perhaps the necklace gives 3D curvature t the breast. I like this shot because it is a "not-posed," she is busy fixing her hair and in conversation. Absolutely like the back lighting. Recall seeing a lady walking toward me in Grocery store, late afternoon and sun was low and shining in the store window thru her thin Muumuu dress. I must say it perked my appetite.
Rob clicks high on my ratings

DIY Photography suggests that the D810 replacement could be called the D820 and have a 46MP sensor. It's all speculation at this point, but after the photo show in Japan at the end of the month, we should either have details about the D810 replacement or have to wait indefinitely.

Hi 'jerryc41'... Interesting Question.!!! --- SO, as the CEO of Nikon, what would be the Factors that you (or your HOG team), had to take into consideration (including potential competition) BEFORE you told your Design Team 'your' Vision of the D810 (or D300) Replacements.???

Instead of trying to take photo of each of your meds wouldn't it to be simpler to get a set of say reading glasses of which you can read very small print? I purchased from Harbor Freight a set of clip on clear glasses that goes over my regular set that's 3x for abut $3.00 each and I bought 3 pair to place them around to not only read meds but everything else that needs close attention.

Do you have a 'lazy susan' plate. Put camera on a little tripod, put bottle on lazy susan and turn it while taking the panorama shot. Might work better using a smartphone or smarttablet camera as you get the image as a file immediately, so no fussing to get out of real camera.

Hi 'John_F'... THAT seems Logical; Agree!!!
