Download Firefox, install it and then get the AdBlock Plus plugin. I never see any ads on any of the many sites I visit.

There may be blockers for other flavors of web browsers, but this is the one I use and it works.

We often hear about awful customer service, so I'd like to tip my cap to a company who performed magnificently - Western Digital.

I bought a pair of their 1.5 TB drives last year, installed one and kept the other for a spare. It ran fine for over a year until I noticed the whole system was slowing down. Did a bit of troubleshooting to discover the WD drive used for backing up other drives was taking forever to read and write. Oddly enough it was not filing up the system error file with reports.

How slow? It took me more than 30 hours to copy the data from the defective drive to another drive in the system. These were both SATA drives and not USB.

Anyway, the drive had never been registered with WD and I had no receipts or proof of purchase, but thought I'd check the WD site to see what would happen. The site asked for the drive serial number and when it was purchased. Entered that data and was informed an RMA was being e-mailed to me. I packed the drive, sent it to WD last Thursday and a brand new drive was dropped off by UPS today!

No muss, or fuss.. Just perfect customer service.

And it took less than an hour to copy the files back to the new drive.

seems to me an intelligent critter would find a way to pull it's self out of it's own shit and quickly learn not to poop all over it's own parlor.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? Never mind the big stuff - like the spent nuclear fuel rods that lay in cooling ponds around the country because no one can decide what to do with them - but we can't get people to stop throwing trash out of their car windows or treating the world like an ashtray.

It does not bode well for the future.

As Carlin says, it's the people who DON'T vote who have the right to complain.

It's the voters who put the idiots in office!

Where's the new toy? Is it inside that car or hiding behind it?

Congrats on the new vehicle. Had my Titan in for servicing today and they gave me a brand new Altima as a loaner. Ahhh.. the new car smell.

NGC--No one has ever said the things can't mutate - but when was the last time the human being evolved. Thousands of years has past, our clothes, means of transportation, living, parchment scrolls into computers, iphone, tables, medicine, etc.have changed, But humans have not evolved into another species, other forms, nor to my knowledge, elephants, tigers, dogs, cats, etc. There are different breeds of animals, and with humans there are different races, color of hair, eyes, body shapes, shape of eyes, noses, mouth etc. But look back as far as there are paintings of other humans, and you will see the basic form and anatomies are the same as today. But you and I are so far apart in beliefs, that no matter what I or others present we are all foolish and our talk is all crap (some crap from the creationist...) Don't think I've ever had the pleasure of communicating with such a superior human being that knows all and anyone who believes different is let's see in the time I've been communication of this subject our view is bonkers, stupid, full of crap, fairy tales, kindergarten, our view are "arguments from ignorance" and because the scientific books that I have read, both from believers and non-believers can't be taken serious because they state the possibility of creation and the one's you study don't so my scientist regardless of their "pedigree" in this particular area can't be taken seriously. Me really thinks I need to stop reading this forum, I've said it several times, because I in no way am of the superior intellect of a person such as you, and instead of us having just some discussion, you continue to belittle our beliefs and that just makes my normally low blood pressure evolve into a higher category which is not good : ) I do think it is sorta funny how all of us that have spoken our position on faith, have done so without belittling you, calling your view ignorant, crap, fairy tales, etc etc.
Is your belief or self esteem so low that you have to engage in belittling others that don't believe as you do in this way? Every since this topic changed from the original intent of the forum your responses have always reminded me of how the aristocrats of the 1700 and 1800s looked down their noses at the working class.
We have and do hold firm in our belief in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit and are enjoying this wonderful world He created and spending eternity in the new world which will be a perfect world.

Happy to have been of service then. You do understand that most of your post was made up of exactly what you seem to be accusing me of doing. It was ad hominem from start to finish.

But, disregarding that... what makes you think humans are not evolving? We are a relatively new species, H. sapiens, that did not exist more than about 200,000 years ago. The big question now is, out of all the rapidly expanding family of Homo, which is our direct ancestor. That question has yet to be answered to everyone's satisfaction.

See, the problem with not knowing anything about evolution, your expectations are screwy. You apparently think of evolution solely in terms of speciation events while, as I've said several times already, evolution is the change in allele frequency of a gene over time. And our genes are changing allele frequency with great rapidity.

You really should pick up a book or two on the subject.

You might also use blank lines. Facing a monolithic block of text like yours isn't a lot of fun to read.

Always happy to be of some help.

We don't need to evolve as a species. We just need to grow up.

ps edit - so how come viruses keep mutating/evolving? Upsetting that.....

Everything is evolving. All fossils, with the exception of those critters that go extinct, are transitional fossils.

Just remember the definition of evolution - the scientific definition of evolution and not some crap from the creationist - is simply "a change in allele frequency of a gene over time."

You'll not find any creationists arguing against that because it's observed in labs every day while explaining why viruses, and every other species of plant or animal, keep evolving.

The Change in Allele Frequency of a Gene over Time.

Simple, huh?

if we accept entropy and the general idea of the stuff of Universe settling down to chaotic low energy states, how come here on Earth (and some meteorites, maybe Mars soon) shew evidence of simple early critters evolving into high level organisms? I omit from my argument totally all in the political classes.

Entropy concerns itself with closed systems. The earth is not a closed system, but receives copious amounts of energy from the sun. There is only one closed system of which we are aware and that is the universe itself. Increases in entropy in one part of the universe will decrease entropy in another. The sun is running down, albeit slowly, and it is allowing an increase in order on the planets.

Yeah... as if he has a chance of getting 1% of the vote or even a single electoral vote. While I like a lot of what Libertarians stand for, a vote for any candidate except the two major parties is a vote thrown to the wind and lost with no possibility of changing anything.

Then you are saying the American political system is doomed to no more than 2 parties. The only way to create a viable 3rd party is to have people show support by voting.

It is called fear tactics. Republicans know they are not supporting conservatives so they have been using that same strategy for years to prevent another party from challenging their reign. If you do not vote for us, then you split the vote and a democrat gets elected. I am a little confused seeing democrat Romney running on the republican ticket and still hearing this crap. What is the difference? Liberal A or Liberal B, we still get a liberal and no change.

And let's not forget Liberal C - George Bush the Younger...

The only difference I see between Liberal A and Liberal B is one follows a policy of tax and spend while the other follows borrow and spend. In either case, Voter AAAAA-ZZZZZ catches it in the neck.

Hmmm.. A reporter asked Gandhi what he thought of English cuisine. Gandhi replied, "I think it would be a very good idea."

Next you'll be extolling the virtues of Vegemite....
