But years here in UHH continue to remind me that UHH is mostly NOT the forum for anything beyond the mean needs and interests of hobbyists.

Agree there a lot of "sour grapes" on this forum. If they can't afford it they make derogative remarks because the "grapes" are out of their reach. I cannot afford a Z9 or this lens but I look on the bright side. This technology will works it way down to affordable cameras and lens which benefit all. The D5 begat the D500 and so on. If one watches the video one would note that the reviewer says this lens is not for the casual user. Thank you for posting the video it was fun to watch

Jerry I agree it is more camera than I need right now. But as the D5 begat the D500 and in some ways the D810 begat the D750 and perhaps this will eventually begat a less expensive model. I have a D7200,D7500 and a D500. When they die I am sure mirrorless technology will have jumped leaps and bounds. Till then, like you, I am content with what I have

I bought one used about two years ago and it is my primary walk around lens. If I know I will be in constant lowlight situations I will switch to a Tamaron 17-70 constant 2.8, but otherwise this is my everyday lens. I find it sharp and very versatile in range. Look for used or refurbished if you want to save a bit

While this camera is too expensive for many of us hobbyists, the exciting thing to me is that eventually some of it's technology will trickle down to camera more in my price range. Remember the D500 was a mini version of the D5. So l will wait and see what this flagship will begat.. Would be nice to have unlimited funds.......😁

Too expensive for what it is at $5999.

but you get 50mp at 30fps (twice the resolution and detail of the 24mp Canon R3)
Cheers

FYI 50 MP is not twice the resolution of 24 MP. 96 MP would be twice the resolution of 24MP as you must double width and length

As a member I go at least once a month and most things have been said. Go online to WCS.org to get a ticket. Weekdays are better for less crowds. The Asia monorail opens in May for more animals. I usually carry two cameras one with a 300mm telephoto and one with shorter zoom but wide angle is rarely used. Last time l was there I only used the 300mm. You really cannot take the whole zoo in one day. So go online for the map and make a plan of your priorities. Happy picture taking!

I don’t know if anyone will bother reading this, 10 pages into the thread, but apparently there’s a lot of confusion over my question. I do know that PS can do a ton of things that Lr can’t, but I wasn’t asking what it can do that Lr can’t do. My question was more in the line of why would my photos not be considered finished if I don’t go into PS with them.

After 10 pages l guess it depends on who you talk to. As you can see there are highly opinionated views from both sides. I follow two rules; If it is for pay, is it what the client wants; If it is for me, is it what I envisioned. How you get to either of these conclusions is up to you but as Kenny Rogers once said, you got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them. In other words when you like the result the editing is done.

I used a Wacom tablet for about 10 years. It had some driver quirks when dealing with Windows, so when it died, I went back to a Tracking Ball. It works for me but the tools we use are very subjective.

About a month ago I purchased On1 2020 for a sale price. I found it quite intuitive and a very powerful tool. However over the Thanksgiving weekend it crashed and would not reload. I contacted On1 and it took them FIVE days to get back to me and their solution did not work! They did refund my money without any hassle. I like their product when it worked particularly for portraits. But until they get their servicing together I'll continue with Lightroom 6 until I can't

Quite true, Different cameras for different purposes.

...how about going mirrorless with the Nikon Z6...about the same price...but an FX full frame camera...that would be a significant change from both the D7200 and D500...it will be an addition to your toolbox...offer more versatility with better image quality...

Then he would have to buy lens that are for full frame and perhaps an adapter. Essentially he would be buying into a whole new system,

If it was simply space one would not be able to still put pictures on. It was something to do with the various security breaches they were having. One can still export to a JPEG file and add that way. I have been doing it this way for almost a year

If you good with a mouse I wouldn't. Before I purchased the two I own I thought it was a great idea. First I bought a large one PTZ-1231W never got the eye hand coordination down so I bought the small PTK-440 thinking that the smaller size would work. still no luck. To much arm movement and to many years using a mouse. The only time I use them now is when the grand kids come over want to draw pictures or trace something. I went back to using a mouse. Wish Microsoft was still making their track ball mouse. I should note that I bought these several years ago and haven't look into any software updates.

I concur. I used a Wacom tablet for about 7 years and recently when it started to act up I returned to a mouse. There is a learning curve so I would suggest if you buy it just go cold turkey and it may be easier to learn. However be aware there seem to be driver problems often at least with Windows and Wacom support is not exactly helpful. At $200 it is pretty big investment for, to me, a minimum return. I find I can achieve the same accuracy with a tracking ball which is a great deal less.
