I was finally able to find Lovejoy, this also was my first light for my new guidescope, a William Optics 70mm fl/420mm, I used a Nikon D7000 to limit the vignetting and field curvature with such a small scope. This image is a combination of 4) 5min exposures unguided along with a 2min exposure for background. I initially shot 20 images, but since I was a bit off on PA and have not corrected for the PE of my mount only 5 were usable. Stacked with darks and flats in CCDStack with a mean combined.

I was amazed how much the comet moves from frame to frame even, as opposed to the surrounding stars.

Any critique is appreciated,

Thanks for looking

Really nice shot Matthew
I had trouble with my stacks also. It didn't occur to me the comet was moving across the sky DUH.

Taken using the Tamron 150-600, mostly at the 150 setting. I would have gone more, but was having trouble tracking accurately. There is some slight trailing, but I guess that will have to do. Will attempt some more processing tomorrow...

Great job DL. That lens is awesome.

You did great job of focusing on the hawks. IMHO these are Red-Shouldered Hawks.

Thank you for the compliment.
I am sorry you are absolutely correct.

Red-Shouldered Hawks are never this cooperative expect when pinned down by a Murder of Crows. About 15 crows had them hiding in my Oak tree for about a 1/2 hr. It gave me plenty of time to shot some, setup my tripod, shoot some more, adjust my settings and shoot some more.
Then these 2 little yellow breasted birds just sat on the powerline totally unconcerned by the goings on.

Not enough mag for the tail and could not get my tracking mount to track.

My luck wasn't much better. We had a light overcast and could barley bring the tail out with 12 in the stack. Tonight maybe.

I want to take my equipment up a notch, but
I was thinking 6D, 7D (Mark II), maybe the 70, etc.
I do wildlife and landscape. Do I need or want a full frame? Will my EF lenses even work on them (All Canon except for a Tamron 150-600).
Thanks everyone.

You just invested in some really nice glass with the Tamron 150-600mm
get a camera that's going to do it some justice. Canon 5DIII

Craig,

The photos that closely match what I see are from the Sigma. The color is almost identical to what I see when I look out the door.

Thank you Jim, it's kind of what I thought.
I really did want the Corvette but the Camaro was in my price range.

Still have not been able to get a stack.

Now you're cooking with Gas Jim this is the way I'd like to be able to shoot.
The Barlow gives a little Color Aberration but that doesn't bother me.
Do you have any Lenses you can use for Afocal Photos?
Just wondering because I have one, a 17mm, I'll be trying on Jupiter.

I just can't get my eye on that thing tonight, might step out again in a bit.
But I'm really looking forward to your next shot! I've gotta figure out a way to get some gear for this sort of thing!

Get between Aldebaran and the Pleiades and work your way West and you will find the green snowball. It's actually pretty big just dim. I use 30 sec exposures and ISO 1600.
Good luck.

Very nice Craig!!! It is going to be clear here tomorrow and a little warmer so I might go out and play a little.

Thank you Erv. Good luck in your hunt and with clear skies.
I'm going back out tonight and see if I can shoot a dozen lights and darks to do some stacking and see if I can get that tail to really standout.
