I've been waiting nearly three months for a lens from B&H. I suspect the problem is with Nikon, but through that whole time Amazon has had the same lens ready to ship and arive in 2 - 3 days. I'd cancel my order, and may still, except for the trade in credit I have with B&H that covers half the price of the lens. It is really getting frustrating.

You can turn your DSLR into a mirrorless camera by locking up the mirror and using the back screen view.

I like it and use it all the time on both my cameras.

While my film cameras are also on a shelf collecting dust I do still have, and use, a manual typewriter, two pocket watches and a fountain pen....

I started shooting with an old 1947 Lieca range finder camera that my father gave me in 1972. It took wonderful slide pictures with the 50mm Lietz lens (which is worth more than the camera on eBay...). I had to use a hand held light meter and make educated guesses for proper exposure. Once the shutter was opened and closed that was that, no turning back or post processing, and with only 36 exposures per roll on a college budget the number of shots was pretty limited. It did instill discipline and an understanding of the essential triad of ISO (ASA), shutter speed and aperture. I picked up newer folm cameras in the early 90's and worked with them until well into the early 2000's when I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon D7000. That camera changed the whole game for me. I now shoot with a D850 and Z6. The Lieca? I still have it and keep it as the museum piece that it is. But I do appreciate the discapline and understanding of composition and light that the film experience gave me. I won't go back film though.

I loved my D7500. Lightweight and easy to use. I travled through London, Sweden and Iceland, and down the river through the Grand Canyon with it and it always worked flawlessly. I've since traded it in as I got a Z6 and had a D810. I highly recommend the D7500.

Thanks Sippyjug,

I have spent far more on lenses than I have on cameras. I'm leaning toward the D850 for several reasons at this point, one is that it will work autofocus on my older nikkor 80-200 f2.8. They are all f mount Nikon lenses and the FTZ adapter will only work autofocus with newer lenses. Most of my lenses work fine with the FTZ adaptor for my Z6, but that 80-200 is one of my favorite lenses. I had it refurbished by Nikon a year and a half ago and its like a brand new lens.

Thanks Bob. That is where I am leaning. I loved the 810 and have some older lenses that won't autofocus with the Z series.

Thanks. I have plenty of lenses, all F mount, that I use with the adaptor fro the Z series.

Thanks B, this does help. I loved my 810 and used it pretty exclusively before buying the Z6. The Z6 became my go to camera for daily shots. Thats why I considered going completely to the mirrorless system after decades of SLR and DSLR cameras. Its tough to abandon the "heft" of a good DSLR, but I think you may be right here.

Believe me, I've done the research. There is only so much that comparisons and on line reviews can tell you. I'm curious about actual experience and use. So far the most significant difference I can see is that the Z7ii has built in stabilization.

I'm looking to upgrade my older D810 to either the D850 or Z7ii and would like some advice and opinions. I have a Z6, which is a great camera and works well with my lenses and the lens adaptor. The two cameras are pretty comparable, with a few exceptions like number of shots per battery charge and the mirror/mirrorless aspect. I mainly shoot landscape, rivers and people.
