I was heading home last night and ran across this scene on the Telluride Golf course. I had my Canon 70d with 70-200 lens and tripod in my car, which I carry around with me this time of year. Jumped out of the car, set up the tripod and camera and found out I didn't have an SD card in the camera. I am sure many of you have found yourselves in the same situation at some point. Yes, BIG BUMMER. At least I had my iphone, which brings home the photographers adage; "the best camera is the one you have with you." I expect to see more scenes like this during the next couple weeks.

Today, September 20. If you decide to come to Telluride, The Mountain Lodge is a great place to hang out just watching the leaves change. First image taken today. Second image shows what it will look like in about a week, taken in 2015.

Great photos!
Were these taken this year?
If so, are the leaves changing early this year?

Yes. The purpose of these posts is to help some of my UHH friends who are considering coming to Telluride and the San Juan Mountains to shoot this years Fall Foliage. BTW, thank you all for your kind comments. Unfortunately, these are not what I would consider "great" images; only a chronicle of how the Aspens are changing this year. I have a few thousand "really good" images from over the years shooting the spectacular Aspens in the San Juan Mountains. I have posted some in the past and perhaps will post again. This weekend promises to be good and it will stay that way for the next couple weeks.

As the days go by I will continue to chronicle the changing of the Fall Foliage in Telluride, San Juan Mountains, Colorado. This was taken September 17. Just beginning. For anyone looking to come shoot the spectacular Fall Foliage in the San Juan Mountains, the next two weeks should do you well. Neil

Yup, most of these screw mount adapters appear to be 'adjustable' as you describe. My Fuji X Pro1 arrived today (woo-hoo!!!), and the first lens I popped on it (via an adapter) was a collapsible 50mm f/2 Leica Summitar. Focus tab, dof markings and aperture markings were way off. Like you, I loosened the set screws, rotated the lens to where everything oriented correctly, and tightened the screws back down. Tried a few other LTM lenses and found a couple would like a little aligning, but rather than doing that for each lens, I figure as inexpensive as they are, I'll just pick up a couple more adapters and align them for specific lenses. Nikon Ai/G lens adapter orients a lens as it should, and works like a champ.

This Fuji stuff is nine kinds of fun. And results (though certainly nothing I'd want to post yet) are amazing!
Yup, most of these screw mount adapters appear to ... (show quote)

Congratulations Jim. I have been using the X-T2 for about a year now. Love it. Enjoy your new toy. Neil

I have the iPhone 8 Plus. I downloaded the ProCamera app with lots options and it works great, for an iphone. I find I am using it more and more for the exact same purposes you describe. It's convenient. Unless I plan on selling prints or images it's a fine instrument for what it is; taking snapshots. It is not a professional tool. Then again, I am not a professional photographer.

Consider the Fuji X-T2 (or the new X-T3 flagship) paired with the Fuji XF 18-135mm lens (27 to 203mm equiv.).
The X-T2’s large APS-C sensor is far superior to that of the M4/3 cameras. The camera has numerous creative settings, including Fuji’s popular Film Simulations. Good luck with making your choice. — Ralph

Right on! Couldn't have put it any better myself. At least look into the Fuji products. You mention Image Quality as being important in your decision. Fuji cameras and especially the lenses are very good. Good luck.

Hi Jederick,

Update on the San Juan Mountains/Telluride. Just beginning. Seems like timing is normal but I have no idea how vibrant the colors will be due to the drought we are experiencing. My guess is another 7-10 days before it is worth coming. Will update again with photos when there is something worth while to post.
