Dear OP. It is definitely without a doubt sun glare, too much light through the viewfinder, an out of focus leaf, too much post processing, not enough post processing, a cheap filter, a filter, no filter at all, the sun in the wrong place, your technique, your camera, the lens, and the heron definitely sabotaging your photo. The fix is simple! In the future, use a filter, don't use a filter, use an expensive filter, turn your VR off, turn your VR on, use a lens hood, don't use a lens hood, ask the heron to move so the sun doesn't show up in the picture, do way more post processing, do absolutely no post processing, fix it with the clone tool, fix it with the cloan tool, don't fix it because you should have gotten it right in the first place, be a better photographer, be a better post-processor, get a better camera, get a better lens, and find a more cooperative heron.

You're welcome. Sincerely, UHH.

I had a 18-300 f/5.6 which I sold to buy a 200-500 but I loved it. It was fantastic as a walk-around lens and the image quality was quite good. I have framed as large as 11"x 14" from that lens and they look wonderful. There are some "pixel-peepers" out there who will say that the IQ is too much of a compromise for the unbelievable range but I disagree wholeheartedly. I am not a professional photographer and will never be. For my money, that's what I'd get! I hope to get another someday but I have too many lenses and something has to give!

I'm a total amateur hack and I really don't care what "serious" photographers think :)! I never use them because they dangle around in front of the lens sometimes and they make changing lenses more difficult. But again, I am a total, card carrying, died-in-the-wool, USDA certified rank amateur!

SOLD Bought brand new about 9 months ago from B&H and used very little. I don't use the lens much because I usually use the 105mm micro for closeup work and I'm saving for a new 200-500mm. I paid $240 and I'm asking $160 (or best offer) shipped UPS ground to CONUS. Original box, front and back caps, and hood. Accept Paypal or local (Pittsburgh PA area) cash transaction. Email yairidy200(at)yahoo(dot)com or PM.

My first year of photography but this is probably my favorite. I love the joy reflected in creation.

John,

Go out and buy a 1/4 inch (pretty sure that is the correct size threads) machine threaded eye hook about 1 1/2 - 2 inches long. Can you take a piece of rope (like small clothesline) - length depends on your height, and it is best to try it out for proper fit before going to take your shots. Tie the clothesline to the eye hook, once you thread it into your female monopod screw hole on the base of your camera, and make it long enough so you can place your shoe into a loop on the other end (stand on the loop with one of your feet - whichever is most comfortable) while standing making it taught when having the camera up to your eye (the viewfinder) holding the camera securely with both hands. The tension on the camera acts as an 'anchor' keeping the camera steady and not shaking (practice first by all means) and then snap your pictures. This is light weight, cheap to set-up, and prevents camera shake very well with a little practice and getting the length of the rope absolutely correct for your height. Give it a try if you can bring rope with you when shooting!

Best Regards,
Tom

[quote=bsprague]It can change weekly. But, this week, I would buy this $900 Dell: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1260884-REG/dell_i7559_3763blk_i7_6700hq_16gb_1tb_gtx960m_windows_10_15_6.html

The processor is fast enough to do photo and video editing now and in the future.
The disk drive is big enough for a lot of photos.
The screen has enough pixels for photo work.
It has an SD Card reader for camera cards.
It has a graphics card that will improve photo and video editing.
It has enough ports for external backup drives and (optionally) a desk sized monitor.

Amen. I bought this laptop a while back and I absolutely love it for LR & PS CC as well as Elements 14 and everything else I do with it.
