Many thanks to all my UH members who have responded to my question. I have paid attention to all the ideas and suggestions offered; I would like to follow up with one more question in mind - the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 is less expensive but seems to have some good reviews on this site; how compatible (functionally wise) is it with a Nikon D610.

I am just curious and wonder why there are so many of the 24-70G ED and not the 24-70G ED VR model for sale on eBay. I am interested in acquiring one of the two.Please keep any idea or suggestions as simple as possible.

Thanks Robeng - I have been giving the non VR version consideration but I don't want to buy the non vervion and then buyer's remorse. Is there another; been looking at the24-120 mm but that's a F4 opening.
