Thanks, Dennis. I’m leaning toward the Fuji right now.
Thanks. That’s good to know. Very helpful information. I was in a camera store yesterday and spent a lot of time discussing the issue. Apparently, the X-T3 has a new quad processor as opposed to a single one. Wanting to lighten up, I’m considering going with the T3 or Nikon Z6. I already have 3 Fuji lenses but also have a Nikon D300 with several lenses that I’d sell or trade in if I go Fuji T3.
I have a Fuji X-T1 camera and would like to use it for action activities such as sports and birds in flight. I find the camera very slow to lock on to the subjects and lose many images. Anyone else with this problem? Is the new X-T3 any better? Thanks.
I, too, took the Lightroom course at our community college - twice and I still don’t know how to use it! Guess I’d better burn the midnight oil reading Kelby.
If you are convinced that full frame is the way you want to go, don’t forget the fact that Nikon has just introduced its new “Z” line of mirrorless full frame cameras; the Z6 and Z7. They are adding a Z line of lenses as the lens mount is different from the standard Nikon mount. They also have an adapter ($250) that will allow one to use current Nikon lenses, without loss of automatic functions. Check out www.nikonusa.com. P.S. I am in the same quandary 🙄
My favorite is #1. Love the angle & color. Nice prop blur adds to the realism. Such a great aircraft along with the crews that played a tremendous role in the victory.
I like them all but the F-86 Sabre (1st) is really cool. The F-86 has always been a favorite of mine as it was the first model I put together as a kid.
I agree with all the HOGs who suggest getting a good refurbished body. The lenses are the most critical components and where you should spend your money. You may have heard the analogy of audio components. Lots of folks purchase very expensive amplifiers and then buy cheap speakers and are very disappointed with the results. Same with camera equipment. The key to sharp images is good glass. One of my favorite lenses is a 49 year old 50mm f1.4 screw mount Takumar that I got with my first SLR, a Pentax Spotmatic. Now I use Nikons but I have adapted the Takumar to use on my Nikon (manually of course). I hope you end up with a system that you're happy with and welcome to the group.
Thanks to you all for your comments. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out from your help.
Thanks jr168. I'll give it a try.
I have a Nikon D300 and set it for BBF but forgot how to revert back to normal auto focus with the shutter release button. Any help out there for an old . . . well, old?
What a neat bunch! You are all so much help. Minniev you are so correct about the frustrating and maddening aspects. I have taken a class on each at our local community college but didn't absorb much. Instructor speed and my thick skull didn't help :-)
Here's an easy one for many but as an old foggie I need some assistance converting RAW images into JPEGs. I have about 200 RAW images that I want to convert to JPEG. Although I have PS/LR CC I am very much of a novice with both and probably even less experienced than a novice. Is it possible to convert them using Lightroom and / or Photoshop? If so, can it be done as a batch process whereby I can convert them all at the same time or, do I have to do each image separately? I am using a PC with Windows 10 (which I hate) and the Microsoft Windows photo editor doesn't offer the capability of saving as another format anymore. Microsoft recently changed the program and that capability was eliminated. A very lame app for sure. So, any suggestions? I'm not above getting another converter that will accomplish the task but since I already have PS and LR I'd like to try to use them if I can. Thanks for your help ahead of time.
To the HOGS who have offered very valuable and comforting suggestions to help me recover my lost images due to my idiotic mistake of formatting the memory card before ensuring that ALL images were securely transferred I offer my sincere gratitude. I certainly learned a lot from all of you and I won't make the same mistake again. I received JPL's suggestion to try Piriform's Recuva free software and it worked like a charm !!! All of my images were there and needless to say I saved them to all 4 of my external hard drives immediately. So, this is something very positive about this group. I see arguments and disparaging comments occasionally in the posts and I simply skip over them and look for the positive things that I can learn from. Again, thanks everyone and GO CUBS !
