Is that Canada in the background?

What you're seeing is the break wall but beyond that would be the Canadian shores.

Great captures! The in-flights are Super! I volunteer at Shepaug Eagle Observatory on Sundays-we had 19 juveniles & 10 adult Eagles yesterday viewed-NONE as close & detailed as yours!! Congrats.

Thank you for your nice words and thank you for volunteering for the eagles!

This Red Headed Woody has been hanging around the feeders at my favorite nature preserve. We haven't seen one around here in about 12 years so this is a real treat for us ! Thank you for looking and for your nice comments !

Excellent work. How did you make shot? Tripod? Filter? Do tell.

Thank you very much ! I shot off of a tripod with a 6x neutral density filter. I used a Canon 5D Mark lll with a Canon 24-70 version ll lens. I shot at ISO 800 and varied the shutter speed and aperture over several shots until I got the one I really liked.

Wow these are fantastic shots. Great captures sir. What equipment were you using and how were you able to follow along so well? Thanks for sharing.

Doug I used a Canon 7D mark ll with the Canon 100-400 version ll telephoto and a 1.4 teleconverter. I followed the hawk down from his perch of about 15 feet to the ground just below it. The auto focus on the 7D ll is fast enough to allow the capture. Thank you very much for your nice comments !

I think that's a vole--coloring, short ears, and short tail all point toward vole instead of mouse. Great pictures! I have the lens, but I haven't caught anything like those.

I believe you are correct.......should have titled this Red Tailed Hawk With Prey.

Great shot with great exposure and detail ! - Love it ......( not sure about the vignetting)

I felt the vignetting was a necessary evil to compensate for the blown out sky in the background. Thank you very much for your nice comments !

Sooooooo........does the mouse live? Does he get away? Inquiring minds want to know! Just kidding........these photos are stunning. The look on the Hawk's face says he's "all business" and you have captured this "predator / victim" scenario brilliantly. Thank you for sharing with us.
BTW, where did you get the lens from and how much did it cost? Did you go to the standard place like B&H or Amazon? I'm also interested in getting one of those.

Thank you very much for your feedback ! I got the lens from Hunt Camera and Video out of Massachusetts for 1995.00 and saved a good amount by not having to pay NY sales tax! Shipping was free as well !
