I have the pro-100 too and love it. I had the same problem when printing. So I tried Calibrating the screen and it seemed to make a huge difference. I also realized that maybe my eye on the screen enjoyed a darker image then on printed paper, so now I am trying to compensate during processing. It seems to work.

Also, there is a printer section on UHH and it may be a good place to direct your question.

THE most important thing after the initial cost of the printer is the cost of ink PER PRINT. A less expensive printer may have a much higher ink-per-print cost. If you plan on making lots of prints, a cheaper printer may cost you more in the long run. The Red River Paper website has great info about this subject that I suggest you take a look at before making your selection. Best of luck.

This is good advice. In my decision making process, I used their reviews to help me along.

Congratulations on your new acquisition. Usually, small defects in the front element will not affect the image as much as defects on the rear element.

Thanks Bob. I shot a few backyard fotos and took the film to my local shop(the place a bought the lens from) to get an idea of what I can get from the lens and Canon TX combo.

I'll post them when I get them.

I have an Epson All-in-one and like it for what it does. Then I wanted to get into larger format printing and learned about Canon printers. I ended up getting a Canon PIXMA Pro-100. Check out the B&H page. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=canon%20pixma%20pro-100&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps Not only does the printer produce fantastic prints straight out of the box, but after mail-in rebates it goes for $119.99. You get something like $350 in rebates, including 50 sheets of Canon 13x19 Luster paper.

How about cleaning (wet) before spending brain power speculating. Most of such debris when on my lenses has vanished after cleaning. Offhand I think what may remain will not make a noticeable difference.

Indeed the lens and glass need to be wiped and generally cleaned. However, inside the front element is some kind of fracture. The salesman who sold me the lens was very clear when he sold it to me. An interesting fact about this lens is that the focusing element of the lens is easily removed and by theory replaced. Now all I need to do is figure out where to get the component. I'll get a close up of the fracture a little later today.

Congratulations, that is quite a beast. Are you going to use it or is it just for the collection?

It is a working lens. I have taken a few pictures with it. However, the front element has an anomaly and I am not sure how it will effect IQ( do you use that term for film?). I am going to do a little research on the lens and see if repairing it would be worth the effort.

Ebay has several of theses lenses for around $200 Plus or minus and I paid less than $50.

I have been doing a little film photog and this lens will round out the kit. Other than that, It will be added to my collection.

I am not sure where to to post this, so here we go(I am sure Admin will put this post in the right place). I just got ahold of this new(to me) lens.It is for my film camera. The lens is a Canon FD 85-300. Good grief it is SOOO heavy! If you look closely, you may see an anomaly in the front element(Which is replaceable). I hope the images will not be badly effected. But for the price, I got a deal. Looking at the images, I'm thinking I should spend a minute or two cleaning the elements.

I had a 7d but had the burning desire(read GAS) to try a FF. I sold the 7d and got the 6d. (Byw, I really liked the 7d, but it was getting a little long in the tooth)Then realized I missed the reach of a crop. Ooops. So I decided to keep the 6d and get a 70d. (All refurbished)
No regrets! I love the the IQ of the 6d for the “studio” and the reach and FPS of the 70d.

I am asking all you lucky Hoggers to remember that I post my pictures on Sundays around this time.

Thanks, olc
