Great. Glad some things remain the same.

I'm not exactly sure as I don't own the D850 however if it's like the D810 (which I do own) try holding down the ISO bottom (on top) and rotating the sub-command dial (front right). It has two positions one of which is "auto ISO."

Hope it works. Happy holidays.

Evening all,

I've been shooting wildlife with the Tamron 150-600mm G1 since it was first released and liked it so much that when it became available I traded it in on the G2 and am equally pleased with it. It's lighter in both physical weight (about 4.5 lbs) and on your pocket book (around $1295 which includes an arca-swiss mounting foot) than any competing product and does a fairly good job. I somehow can't bring myself to spend $12,000+ dollars for the 600mm prime. I'll attached a few images taken with the G2 so you can see what you think about its quality.

Good morning, Haveago,

My wife shoots with the Nikkor 70-300mm on her D7200 and, personally, I can say her images are crisp, the lens is light-weight enough for handholding (which she prefers to using tripods), and on a crop camera 450mm will give you a reasonable reach and on the short end, it's perfect for portraits. It's a good lens which she uses for birds in flight and other wildlife pursuits. Another plus: For around $400 it's certainly an inexpensive addition to your camera bag and it's made for a Nikon camera body. Nothing against the Sigma -- my go-to lens for wildlife is the Tamron 150-600mm G2 -- I'm sure the third party lens'll do fine. Just a couple of thoughts that hopefully will be helpful to throw into the mix.

The response to my returning has been overwhelming. Had I known I was missing, I would have returned a lot sooner! I do appreciate all the kind words. With that said, I'd just like to say, in my opinion, a large part of photography is being in the right place at the right time. Of course, that does mean you got to be out there with camera in hand.

To all: Thanks for the kind words and feedback. The warm glow is like the prodigal son returning in time for Christmas. I think I'll stick around.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and a great holiday season.

Hi Canuck,

The Coyote was shot with my Nikon D7200 with an Nikkor 80-400 at f/5.6 and 1/1000 sec. Both the Eagle and the Sandhill Cranes with my D810 and my Tamron 150-600mm; the Eagle at 1/1600 sec and the Cranes at f/6.3 at 1/1250 sec.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi all,

I've been a member of Ugly Hedgehog since September 2011 but, unfortunately, somehow must have taken a wrong turn somewhere along the way, got lost and disconnected from UHH. I'm not quite clear how that happened but, regrettably, it did. Nonetheless, I remember how much I enjoyed the exchanges and back and forth dialogue so, I'm glad to be back, hoping to resume and participate exchanging thoughts and ideas with other like-minded individuals.

Since the time I disappeared, I've discovered, become passionate about, and immersed myself in wildlife and nature photography. Since mid-2014, my wife and I have been traveling quite a bit in pursuit of knowledge and experience and are attempting to climb the immense learning curve involved.

I'm attaching a few images to sort of give you a feel for what we've been up to.

Glad to be back.

Don B

I just bought Lightroom 3 myself and purchased Photoshop Lightroom 3, Essential Training by Chris Orwig. I am enjoying it very much. Go to Lynda.com and type in Lightroom. I've bought other training products from them before. They have a huge array and I have been very pleased so far. . Hope that helps. :D

You might try Lynda.com and type in Lightroom 3 or Elements. They have a vast array of video tutorials and you can join their club or buy individual training DVDs. Worth a look.

I might be an Educator/Student Edition. They usually go for a lot less but you have to prove you're an educator or student. Adobe is tough on that!. Be careful.

What "special plastic Bag ..." are you referring to? My concern, of course, is shooting in the rain when, naturally, some of the best images are made!
