Does anyone know anything about a company called "mpb". I am looking for a used Canon camera, and their prices are lower than anyone elses, and they seem to have more stock than any place else...Just wondering if this is too good to be true..any info would be appreciated. They can be found at mpb.com. Thanks

I've purchased lenses & flash gear from them. Very fair prices and good response time. I'll do so again.

I also had to bring my SB-800 to Nikon for repair. They found corrosion in the battery compartments and I got an estimate for repair. Then I got a message from Nikon stating they could no longer repair the flash because it was discontinued and that parts were no longer available. I couldn't figure out why they would discontinue a workhorse flash like the SB-800 while keeping flashes just as old in their lineup. They offered me a refurbished SB-910 for $300 plus tax and shipping. I refused it and picked up my SB-800. When I came home I read up on how to deal with battery corrosion. I took a Q-tip, dipped it in some distilled white vinegar and swabbed it in the battery compartments and let it dry. The flash fired up again like a champ! Gonna keep my SB-800 alive as long as I can. It serves me well :)

I also had the corrosion problem with my Nikon flash. The best remedy for it is this: https://www.amazon.com/CAIG-LABORATORIES-D100L-25C-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B0000YH6F8/ref=asc_df_B0000YH6F8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198090983914&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10418034491148911772&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061183&hvtargid=aud-829758849484:pla-349776659890&psc=1

Looking to purchase 400mm lens to shoot mostly in woods for groundbirds, warblers, and other small quick birds at about 100 ft or less range. Mostly shade in summer of course, and many branches in winter. Any thoughts? Enthusiast not professional grade.

I'd go with the Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G AF-S VR. Quality lens. Light enough for hand-held shots.

All: I am in the process of purchasing a Nikon D750 and use my Nikon D7100 as a 2nd camera.
Currently, there is a bundle (Nikon D750 DSLR with 24-120mm VR Lens) for $1997.00. I can get a used body only for around $1,000 but have never purchased a used camera. Would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions. Thank you - Joy

I have a D750 with both 28-300 & 24-120 lenses. These 2 lenses work just fine for me, although the 28-300 is a little bit heavier than the 24-120. I bought the 24-120 used from MPB and I'm very satisfied with them.

The 28-300 on my D810 has been my favorite combo when travelling. A somewhat lighter alternative is the 24-120 on my D750.

I use this lens as a walk around lens attached to a D4s. I find it to be quite sharp at F6.3-7.1 (seems to be the sweet spot for this lens).... two annoying things still don't negate my good opinion of the lens. They are:
1) All the versions I have owned of this lens will hang up when used on single frame AF - Shutter will not fire. I must always use it on continuous AF - then no problems.
2) The front rubber focus rubber ring will eventually expand and lose the glue attachment to the lens surface underneath - making for an unsightly broken look... they last 2 years at most before you have to obtain a brand new rubber ring.... Neither problem affects the image results!

I don't have these problems with mine.

This is a NIB lens and a buyer's remorse sale. I felt like it was a good price so I jumped on it but it doesn't add enough extra to my current equipment to justify the expense and re-arranging my bags and other lenses so I am selling it. I took it out of the box, took 2 shots, and put it back. It was only out of the box for a few minutes and never on a tripod. It's a beautiful lens but just not something I need. Saw a shiny object and bought it too fast...

The price is $1,100 and it comes with everything a new lens includes. This lens is currently listed on B&H for $1,299 after $100 instant savings. I will pay for UPS ground shipping from the Philadelphia area to anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. Buyer can pay for insurance and/or faster shipping. When your check, cashier's check, or money order clears my account I will send the lens that day and send you tracking number. This is a straightforward no nonsense sale. Please PM me if you are interested.

I live in Santa Barbara, California and am thinking of buying a Tamron 150-600mm G2 Ultra-Telephoto lens.
If any of you have this or a previous model your experience with and opinion will be greatly appreciated.

I bought the G2 about 2 months ago to extend the reach on my Nikon D810 (replacing the Nikkor 80-400). I spent 2 days recalibrating this lens with the tap-in. Used mainly at airshows, the AF is as fast or faster than the 80-400. Tack sharp, even at 600mm. 60% of my shots are hand-held, 40% with the Nest gimbal head on Benro Mach 3 tripod. Very satisfied.

Hi all going to my first air show this spring. i have a 7d/2 with a assortment of lens 3- 2.8 lens, 16/35, 24/70, 70/200, and ver 1 100/400. & 1.4 ver 3 extender. not sure how close they fly by the grandstands. my question is do i need a lot of reach with the longer lens or is a shorted reach better. or do i take a combination, but really don't want to take more than two lens.
also while i'm here asking is there such a thing as adapter that will allow my ver 3 1.4 conv to fit on my 24/70 ? if so would that be a possibility in this situation. thanks everyone for the insight bill

Usually I'd bring my Tamron 150-600 G2 (Nikon D810) & 2 lenses for ground shots on my Nikon D750: 16-35 & 24-70.

I picked up the Benro extra long Series 4 Mach3 from B&H. Rated for 44# load 82" off the ground. It's a big, heavy duty carbon fiber unit that supports my gimbal, D500, & 150-600 Tamron. I love the unit. As you might expect, it's not particularly lightweight but it feels solid, even when extended. I can change my head's by using RRS clamps & mounts in about 20 seconds.

Agreed. I have the Benro Mach3 (aluminum) and it should fit your height requirement.
