I'm looking for a good zoom lens to shoot motocross racing. I have Canon 6D and Canon 7D bodies. I have read the Tameron and Sigma 150-600 don't posses a real fast AF like Canon 400mm L series UM no IS.
thank you for any suggestions and experience with any of these lenses.

I have both the Canon 100-400mm series l and the Sigma 120-300 2.8 Version 2. I use both for auto racing, horse racing (trotters), barrel racing, grand kids soccer, wildlife. The Sigma I use mostly on my tripod /gimbal set up for birds/ birds in flight which it does quite well and my Corvette friends doing laps at Roebling Road. I use both the Sigma 1.4 and 2.0 tele with my Canon 5D3 and 7D2. The Sigma I picked up on Ebay 2 years ago is Version 2 and it was $1400 from some guy in Hawaii. Like the article Gene posted there is not much difference between Version 2 & Version 3 just $2200 dollars. You can pick up version 2 tele for half the price of their Version 3. Actually the version 3 does not work very well on the older lens. The weight is a little heavy for long periods of hand holding.

I remember it as The Jones Beach Marine Theater. Beautiful venue.

I worked there in 1963, went to work at 4pm and got off around 12am. Bus boy and waiter paid $.85/hour and $.15 extra because of night shift. The best tips were when the Shriners rented the whole theatre, they new how to party.

Do you you mean these guys scare your birds away? They keep my snake population down on the creek!

This sequence was shot in February at Merritt Island. There was not much going on as there was very little water and very few birds. But I did get these shots as I never new the heron spear the fish.

Thank you all for the comments. I have a creek that runs right near the house so the hawks are always checking the place out for critters and usually finding something.

Bought a used A6000 from another Uhh and was watching a video on programing the camera. Had a 16-50 Sony lens on from my Nex3N. Happened to take my eyes off the monitor and looked left to see I had a visitor on my deck rail. Had to crop to get rid of most of the hammock and humming bird feeder. This camera is amazing. Sending off for the adapter so I can use all my "L" glass.

Just got back from Kissimmee Saturday. Did Circle Bar B Ranch in Lakeland last Thursday, it was very disappointing for birds, one eagle.( Last year 6 eagles and plenty of other birds) The best part was the otter going up and down the bank and catching a fish. Went to Merritt Island last Friday The place is dried up nothing like last year ( park was loaded with birds of all types). Went to take pictures of herons, egrets and spoonbills. No spoonbills ,very few of the other shore birds. Park was mostly mud flats. Viera Wetland was closed for the week as they are pressure testing a new tank. I would check with them to see if they opened it back up. The Alligator Farm was just terrible weather, overcast, misting, and 20-25 mph winds, so didn't go drove back to Georgia.

I have the Sigma 120-300 2.8 model 2 not the model 3 MT was quoting. Purchased it off Ebay for $1400. The only thing it is lacking is the dock, a little better weather sealing. Great lens have been using it for BIF, barrel racing, baseball, and soccer. Little on the heavy side. Also use the Canon 300 f4 IS, light, fast lens and a lot easier to hand hold. Can compose better with the Sigma Zoom.

You might want to look at a Sigma 120-300 2.8 with OS (Version 2) I use this lens with my 7D2 for sports and birding. You can get a used one for around $1500 and if you need more reach you can use a T/C and still have plenty of light at 5.6 and all kinds of reach out to 960 mm

Have a Sigma 150 - 500mm f/5 - 6.3, used it a few times only. Thinking of selling to ADORAMA for credit towards the Canon 400mm f5.6 USM. I shoot semi-pro football games from the sidelines and I am not happy with the Sigma lens. I have a Canon 70-200mm f/ 5.6 and what a difference when soothing the games. My question is has anyone out there shot football games with the Canon 400mm and how sharp were the pics. I am using the Canon 7D mark II body by the way. All answers would be appreciated and thanking all in advance.

Have no trouble with the fast focus. I use Canon 5D3 or 7D2 with no focus problems for fast moving birds or horses. It is currently overkill for my grand kids soccer games as the are all under 7 years old. There is also a less expensive Version 1 that sells used for about $500 less but has no stabilization.

Look into a Sigma 120-300 2.8 there is 3 versions. you want the second version with OS (image stabilization) It will also can handle a 1.4 T/C. bought mine for $1400. Use mine for horse racing (Trotters & Barrel Racing) and BIF

My favorite thing to shoot is sports. This is a big year for me because my boy is in his senior year of football and I take the pictures for the team on the sidelines on Friday nights. I have always used my 80-200 2.8 and have gotten some pretty good shots. Last year I bought a D750 (I couldn't wait any longer for the "D400", so don't you know the D500 came out)and I really like the combo. Just feel like I need a little more reach. I have been kicking around getting a used 300mm 2.8 AFS for around $2K. I guess the question is, in your opinion, is it worth spending the money on the new lens? or is that extra 100mm not worth the cost. Also, I lose the zoom ability which can come in handy when you are close to the action. Has anyone else out there been where I am? Not crazy about spending the money, but if were to make a big difference, I would do it. Thanks for any advice.

I am trying to use Microsoft OneDrive to store 37,000 pictures in their cloud. They have a deal where you can get Microsoft office and 1TB of Cloud storage for $6.99 per month. I use Lightroom 5.7 for keeping track of my pictures. Has anyone used OneDrive and how do you get your pictures to sync without disturbing your files so Lightroom can still find them?
