When having and using black and Native American slaves started to fall into disfavor, the indentured Irish were then put in their places. Anger at having to give up their former slaves (a great monetary loss), along with having less Irish to replace their numerous slaves, brought horrific conditions often worse than blacks and Indians had endured. Anyone who feels this is a myth and made up probably also says the Holocaust did not happen. Our family histories handed down over the generations tell us what was true and what was not.

In the last few years, I have seen a pigeon in a grocery store twice. Knowing they will kill it after closing time, I have offered my services, caught them, and released them. I raised pigeons and doves for many years and have no problem catching them for release. If stores would provide me with a long-handled net, I'd gladly work to do the same with sparrows and wrens, etc. When you remove their natural environment to put in a parking lot and large store, where can you expect them to go for housing, food,
and community?

My inhaler is $1030 a month - my share of cost ... $336. I was advised to go to the manufacturer's website and see if they had a coupon I could download. I did. They did. My cost is now $10 a month for 12 months. Now explain that to me ...

The law does not go into effect immediately. You don't vote in a law on Tuesday and then abide by the new law on Wednesday. This is reflective of what is currently happening. I've been in a couple similar to this and they are very well-run and reliable stores providing numerous medicine choices.

They didn't do it on purpose. They didn't have any refrigeration in the school so about a half hour before lunch time, a truck pulled up and unloaded baskets of small milk cartons. If the day was hot, the trip to the school would turn it. It didn't happen in the winter. :-)

The school I went to in the early '50s did not have a kitchen. They did not serve lunch. You had to bring your lunch in a brown bag with your name on it. You left it on a table as you entered your classroom, a person came by with a cart and took the lunches to a large room (lunch room) where you picked up your brown bag at lunch time. The only thing you got was a small carton of milk, either chocolate or white. White milk was 5 cents and chocolate was 7 cents. If you didn't bring lunch, you were welcome to walk home and eat but you had to be back in 45 minutes for the start of afternoon class. A lot of the time, the milk was spoiled...so we always tried to pay for chocolate so it didn't taste so bad.

They limit the population according to their permit to hold this event because part of the agreement is everything must be removed afterward and the land must look as if not even one person had walked across it. They only have a certain amount of time to restore the landscape ... only a couple of weeks I believe. If so much as one cigarette butt is found, the contract is terminated for life and a huge fine is imposed. Recently, Burning Man bought a new piece of property near this leased land and they say in a few years they will have it ready to move the city to the new location. It is smaller so the population will be reduced unless they can eventually get an option on the property next to it. The price has gone up considerably as popularity increases. Tickets go on sale on-line or by phone and are sold out in less than an hour several months in advance. A small reserve is held for a lottery held about 6 weeks prior to it's start. I have several friends who attend. Unfortunately, I have COPD and the dust storms that come up daily prevent me from going. BTW, they are in a flood plain on this original land and flash floods have also closed it down and sent people running in some years. No refund when that happens.

The warning on the Eagle feather is true and often enforced. But did you know that almost every wild songbird feather is also covered under federal law? A lady I knew was making dream catchers with cardinal feathers she found in her yard over a period of a year, and some feather earrings and mosaics using other songbird feathers she'd collected on nature walks and camping trips over the years. She posted them for sale on-line and the feds confiscated all her work and put a $100k fine on her...even after she explained she had found them on the ground and that the collection had taken several years to accumulate. You can buy bird feathers from domestically raised birds and birds killed with a hunting permit (quail, pheasant, duck, etc.) but no wild bird feathers that are from protected species or songbirds. (put water fowl in this catagory...many seagulls and pelicans, etc. are also on the protected list!)

I bought a new laptop with Win10 2 months ago and bought my own one-time use Office product because I do not want to subscribe to the on-line app version. 6 weeks later, my Office suite stopped working and said I wasn't register, yet refused to let me re-register since my registration key had already been used the one time already. Calling Microsoft, I had the same run around over my Microsoft email account. The tech said with Win10 I needed to have a Microsoft email account or they couldn't help me fix the problem.

Yes, everything now is a Win10 problem because they are using Win10 as the excuse to direct all tech support through their system. And, as a tool to sell subscription apps. (I was told I had to buy a subscription Office Suite since all their products were web-based now and I was mistaken that there was a one-time registered program any longer...that wasn't true but I had to demand to be transferred to sales in order to get the true story. The tech who told me HE was in charge of troubleshooting and I needed the subscription was trying to slip one past me.)

We are in Texas also and in the country. We have a fox that runs through our back yard on occasion. They are really beautiful, aren't they?

Jams, jellies, lemon curd, premade/store-bought custards, canned pie filling all make great fillings for layer cakes.

Same thing here - its been almost 2 weeks now. I wrote admin and they said it appeared to be my email provider was blocking them. Why? they never did that before and I haven't changed settings? I even checked all settings and removed ALL filters so everything would come to my inbox... and yet, I still haven't received any emails from UHH. If Admin reads this, perhaps they will see I'm not the only one with this problem and maybe they need to reset a few member's email notifications to see if it's on their end.

Mine has done that forever. It happens when my laptop refreshes itself about every 3 minutes or so. I have not been able to figure it out. I just take a deep breath and work through it. It's not my mouse, my touchpad or any of the rest...it is definitely connected to the 3 minute refresh/save feature on my laptop.
