I think those are BEAUTIFUL images!!
Can you get better?
Amazing.

Thanks a lot, Im trying to get opinions on what other people think, if I took the same images with 665nm or 720nm what would the whites be like and the color? The big decision for me is to what version of conversion I will do on my camera I want to get converted to IR. Im hoping fellow hogs can put up some examples or some comments on what they think!..cheers

I think if I go for the 720nm for the purer whites Im afraid of being disappointed with the lack of colour that i can play with! What do others think?

I have a Nikon D70s converted to 590nm and have loved the results. I like it because you can mimic the others by desaturation etc but harder to go the other way with the 665 and 720nm. I am going to get my Nikon D2x converted as I want a higher resolution and better ergonomic camera with IR over the old D70s and the camera is just sitting in the cupboard doing nothing. My dilemma is which conversion should I do this time. Ive seen some spectacular images with the 720nm and even some quite saturated images with it. The whites are whiter than the other spectrums. What do other IR photographers have and why? I know I can get the whites pretty white with the 590nm especially if its shot in the bright sun. I guess its a case of settling for a bit less "white"or purer white but less colour.

Hi Gang,
It's that time of the year & I get to pick out my gift from the hubs. I am wanting to expand my arsenal with a "telephoto" & as usual can't make up my mind!! I have about 2500.00 to get to spend.

I shoot 95 % of time with the 6D (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE ) And I shoot a variety of Weddings Portraits & some Indoor Studio (newborns) & for personal pleasure wildlife & grandchildrens sporting events . I think you would love the 70-200 2.8 I have the nikon version and use it mostly for portraits and weddings and its a fantastic lens. I tried someone elses 75-300 and it felt cheap and nothing compared to the 2.8 lens.

I'm so glad it worked for you. I was about to do the same thing but got cold feet because I was afraid that Adwaremedic might have been yet another form of Mal Ware. It took the tech at the genius bar about an hour to remove it. He also uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. We both solved the problem but different ways. All is well that ends well.

Ok well we know for next time the site is legit. I saved the icon as it says it doesn't actually download anything on your computer it just connects to the internet and does it that way. It suggested removing firefox as well which it did after a click and then re installing it later. Adwaremedic rounded up the culprits in seconds.. very fast..cheers

If I recall properly Apple has a program where they will fix any Apple computer if you mail it to their repair center. I don't remember the cost but I think it was a little over $100 USD.

Luckily, I had bought "Apple Care" a few months prior. When I walked into the store, they never even asked me about what kind of protection plan I had. They told me they fix problems like this for free, and did.

Worse case, perhaps you can save all your critical files, such as photos onto an external drive. You could then purge your drive, reinstall your OS and applications.

I use Aperture and keep my photos on a 1TB external HD attached with Velcro to the lid of my computer. I use time machine to backup EVERYTHING in the background over my LAN to my 3TB Airport Time Capsule. If I think something is wrong I can go back in time to a place where I'm confident my computer was working properly. I takes almost a full day to recover wirelessly, but it can be done and I have done it.

NEVER agree to download a new program from a POP-UP screen. Go to the site yourself, make sure you know where you are, prior to downloading a program. These days clever hackers can forge a page very convincingly. Once you download one piece of Mal Ware it lead to very bad problems (like you are experiencing now) If you do search on line you will find places that promise to remove the Mal Ware for free, only to introduce more such viruses!

I went on the forums of adobe and a guy suggested I download Adwaremedic from the safemac and it got rid of the problem straight away. He said it was adware, which is mainly annoying popups and control of the system that would be the problem and it turned out he was right... Cheers

I wanted to play a little with infrared photography so I bought an infrared filter to try on my 6D and took these shots yesterday. After putting the filter on my 17-40mm L, I could not see anything through the view finder. So I set the lens and camera on manual and shot these at 10sec, 15sec, 20sec, and 30 sec with the lens at 17mm and focused on infinity. Infrared was so much easier on film, just buy infrared film and shoot, no problem. I have LightRoom on a Mac, so how can I post process these so they look like normal infrared shots? Also, this may be fun so I might invest in a infrared-converted Canon, any suggestions?

For processing you need a channel swapper so check to see if LR has one. If it does great, then swap the red and blue channels. Red should read at 100 so change it to 0 then the blue channel which is normally 0 change to 100 then it will give you an image getting rid of the red and something to further PP. I know with my converted Nikon D70s if I shoot in auto the image will be red like yours but if I shoot in Manuel I get greenery turn a ghastly green then when the channels are swapped the greenery turns yellow which when PP in color desaturation turns a nice winter like white according to your preference. An example below..Hope this helps!

Go to OtherWorldComputingnand they list all Apple machines with details on how to add RAM. Most cases it is just a matter of inserting RAM into existing empty slots.

I just recovered from the same problems. Hot foot it over to the Apple store after you make an appointment at the genus bar. They are very familiar with the problem(s) (Mal Ware and viruses.) It took me two trips to get my Mac Book Pro cleaned up. The thing really flies now. It's about a 30 minute trip each way for me to reach the Apple store. It was well worth the two round trips.

Stop downloaded recommended programs that claim to rid the computer of specific Mal Ware . These are scams and introduce more Mal Ware! I got duped into thinking I was talking to an Apple help desk. He had an Indian accent and asked for permission to take remote control of my computer and for only $500 USD he would keep my computer clear of viruses and Mal Ware. I finally realized I was being scammed and hung up. When I got to the Apple store they had heard it all before. I dodged a bullet.

Apple provides this support FREE. This is one of the advantages of owning an Apple computer.

I dont think apple would do it free here in NZ as I think it needs to be sent away overseas but they do have an apple repair place which I know will cost me money..cheers

Well, I wasn't having problems with malware like the OP but I clicked on your links and read through them. So I gave it a try and and changed my DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4. What a difference in loading websites!!! Much, much faster! Thank you for these links!

I tried following the instructions for the router but it didnt have my router model no listed so I tried it with the workstation and laptop choice and did it to both imac and macbook and it does seem a lot faster so thats great. But I didnt use the 8888 and 8844 like you have done it was the IP address nos which are 208.67.220.222 and 208.67.220.220 have I done something wrong someone? thanks

How do you install the ram yourself? I think the macbook has to be taken apart and then there is soldering to be done. I dont think the average person could do it but I guess if you know what youre doing then go for it!

Should I just go with the 16 GB.That is the decision I have to make. Its $500 more but in the long run will it pay off!
Thanks for your advice.

I have the 8gb retina but when you are doing a lot of PP, I use aperture mostly, I wish I had 16 gb and you cant upgrade once you buy the 8gb unless you send it to apple and they install an upgrade but would be expensive!
