Yes, two Yongnuo's, Godox, or Neewer flash units, for my Nikon DSLR, would be less than one Nikon SB-700, holiday priced at $296. Yes, Yongnuo. Godox, and Neewer flashes are disposable. I noticed B&H Photo sells refurbished SB-700s. Which indicates that are salvageable. You won't see a refurbished Yongnuo, Godox, and Neewer flash units. Yes, anyone purchasing the above mentioned third party flashes, should realize they are throw aways when they fail. Perhaps one exception. Godox is renamed Flashpoint under Adorama Photo. And they may have an extended warranty. In case the Flash fails earlier than expected.

True, but check into the cost of getting a flash repaired, easier to replace a $100 unit.
I'm not saying that my way is the only way, it's just what works for me. I shoot weddings, and my equipment gets a ton of use, and my Yongnuos actually overheat a lot less than my SB-900, which is why I got rid of it.

Speedlights have been a topic of discussion on this forum lately. Mostly about the effectiveness and durability of Third Party Flash units. How long have you had your SB-600? Did it have heavy usage? Any Flash unit will eventually fail, due to heavy usage. But, the Third Party Flashes are likely to fail earlier. Many of the popular Third Party Flash units are Yongnuo, Godox, and Neewer. You, can get each of them for $110 or less. As one experienced uhh member told me on a previous post. If you use your Flash a lot, it is best to spend your money and get a good Branded one. I happen to own a Yongnuo #685 (a clone of the SB-910) for a Nikon DSLR. I shoot outdoors 90% of the time. So, heavy usage of my flash is not a problem. But, if it dies on me sooner than expected, I won't be disappointed. I'll just trash it and buy another Flash. And, in most instances. It won't be worth repairing after warranty expiration anyway. If you are interested in a Nikon Brand, there is currently a Sale on the Nikon. SB-700 from B&H for $296. A $30 reduction. I've heard nothing but positive remarks on that flash unit. Good luck on whatever your next flash unit will be.

I agree that they will probably fail sooner, but at the cost difference, I just have multiple flashes, and always have a back up ready to go. Considering you can get 3 Yongnuo flashes for the cost of one Nikon, it's not a huge deal to have one or two in use, and one in the case at all times. At least that's what I do.

Not too long ago, I had a flash go over the side of a bridge and go swimming. I would have needed therapy, and probably a good divorce lawyer if it would have been a Nikon flash, but I consider my Yongnuo's disposable. I just grabbed the spare and another light stand and kept going.

Like almost any family photo, there's always one "ham," and one who tries to hide in the back row.

I think what I enjoy most about your photos is that they aren't "over" processed. There is still some life and texture to the skin.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I asked, but she said she had already spent enough money for Christmas.

Good luck, it will be a great combo for someone wanting to dip their feet into DSLR

She's supposed to stop by in about 1/2 hour, and I planned to tell her about both, since the body without a lens isn't going to do her much good.

I will let you know.

Don't be too afraid of the cost of a replacement bulb. My projectors are always epsons, which are not generally cheap, and we use the Sony's at my work. (I am the one who purchases bulbs for that projector too) You can get off name brand ones for most projectors now from Amazon, or ebay, and say what you will, the new bulbs are always as bright, and last just as long as the OEM. Some people just think you HAVE to use OEM for everything, which isn't the case. Of course, before you pull the trigger, check the availability and cost of the replacement bulbs. I always keep 2 spares, because they can, and do get damaged when moving.

The worst part is that it seems that the knock offs don't really seem to be honest in their lumen ratings.

A lot depends on the environment you are using them in. If the room is dark, you can get away with one that's not super bright. If it's in a room with windows and it's used during the day, you will need a BEAST.

Can you tell us about where it is used, and maybe some of us can come up with other suggestions. I have bought a few from Ebay, and mostly had good luck, other than the bulbs usually need replaced.

Thankfully, I generally use them in a place where it's easy to pull the blinds.

Can't promise anything, but giving info to a friend for her daughter. I had a couple of these, and they were great in their time, and still very useable.

Monochrome will capture the soul of an image if the colors aren't interesting , still color can produce interesting photos but B&W goes all the way to the soul + B&W can be more forgiving . It has been said when you shoot in color it only gets to the surface . So everybody commit on this subject .

What's there to say? You already said it, so it must be true.

Welcome to your first post. I have a lovely bride as well, who says something that's pretty much the same, except a "little" different. She looks lovingly into my eyes, and says "If you spend it, I will kill you"

Somehow, it sounds like your lovely bride of 47 years has a nicer way about saying than my lovely bride of 33 years. HAHA.

So how is the overall quality of the prints?

Really good, very impressed with the printer, and the ink is pretty color fast even when put in water, but don't try a "smudge" test immediately after printing, it takes a few minutes to "set" or you will end up with a ruined photo, and a dirty thumb. (not different than I expected on glossy paper, but you know I had to try)

Talk to Primera and they will send you a sample kit of their papers, and magnetic or adhesive paper.
You can torture the samples, and they hold up really well.

Actually, not to send you to another website, but put that same search term in Pinterist, and you will get more ideas than you can shake a stick at.

Watching today's movies are very unrealistic, car chases, etc. Movie studios must have huge editing prograns.

So, what exactly do you want photoshop to be able to do, that it can't already? You can get amazing, realistic special effects with it as well.
