Do you have a pic that captures the top and bottom of the lamp? I guess I'm old fashioned in that I like to capture "whole" images.
Super shots. What lenses did you use? I get out to Black Point several times a year, but the water levels have been really low.
Also an excellent program for photographing scale model railroad scenes. Awsum program.
Have been using the Sigma 15mm for landscapes and wide angle shots. No distortion. Horizon is straight. This is one of my two favorite lenses. The other is the Sigma 18-200mm.
I believe the item being described as a circular polarizer is actually a linear polarizer mounted in a rotating ring. Not having used polarizers for quite a while, I used to have one that was linear in a rotating ring and I would use it to enhance contrast of the sky by rotating the polarizing filter ring until I achieved the effect I wanted. Crossed polarizers would enhance sky contrast, but very much limit the light entering the lens, rather much like a strong ND filter, although working through polarization not through overall brightness or illumination. Using one linear polarizer can reduce total light entering the lens by a max of approximately 50%. Crossing two linear polarizers can reduce the light entering a lens by approximately 100%. The only true circularly polarized light I have "seen" is from a laser.
Having shopped eBay since '99, I find that about half of what I purchase now is "Buy it Now". If the price is too high in either venue, I just don't buy. Sometimes sellers will lower their price in order to sell. Good idea about contacting the seller to lower the price. I have done that successfully several times on BIN items, especially if I want more than one. I look at who's bidding and if it's a bunch of "newbies", I may watch it, but don't expect to buy, simply because the price usually skyrockets. Occasionally I'll find a really good auction item and will bid on that. As mentioned in previous replies, use odd cents and not even dollars or half dollars. I don't sniipe and don't particularly care for bidders who do. I'll place a next higher bid and put my final bid in just before the buzzer. Have been relatively successful and gotten many items not available from brick and mortar stores.

Have been buying items, including cameras and lenses, from eBay for over 10 years. Been ripped off once many years ago, but eBay, as mentioned, now has many safeguards for consumer protection. The first place I look for sometning is eBay. As mentioned before, be careful and READ the feedback.
My two favorite lenses are the Sigma 15mm and Sigma 18-200mm AF OS zoom. The zoom has a variable f stop and in low light, I have to use a tripod for telephoto shots. Awesome lens and can be bought online (eBay) for about $300. I like mine so much, I bought one as a gift for a fellow photographer.
The first one. I like pictures with more contrast.
