In the middle of a sporting event and need immediate 4x6" color pix. I will print images from the thumb drive and continue on shooting on another thumb drive. I know that I can accomplish the same from the CF card(s).
Having the USB thumb drive allows me the utility of many different style printers.

Can you use a thumb drive directly on a Canon 50D in lieu of the CF or save to both at the same time? I need to upload images to a photo printer in the field and continue shooting while printing images from the thumb drive?
Thanx, Irve

Thanx that's another idea. I prefer the 110V printer with one less battery variable.

I am looking for advice on buying a color printer, 4" x 6" color prints to be taken on photo shoot. I need high res quality prints with affordable ink efficiencies. 4 or 6 color, separate cartridges, maybe ink $$/100 prints if known
A 4" minimum display print screen,
Must run from a CF card from my Canon 50D, also as an option from a direct USB connection.
Run on 110VAC
If you owned a printer like this, please advise. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanx,
Irve

Thanx for your help. You were right on target. I went over to Best Buy and checked out two different printers. Both can opoerate right from the CF Card taken from the camera. Both test were very close in print quality.
Epson Artisan #837 & the Canon MG6220. Both had a user inerface where I crop and fill the 4x6" print size.
My interest is only to print 4x6" hi-gloss images on the spot as golfers move from hole to hole. Total time required about 5 minutes per foursome golfers.
Also the cost of ink per image is critical as they both hold 6 cartridges of costly re-fills.
If anyone can add some additional insight I would appreciate it very much. Thanx...Irve

Is that the key??? Use a printer with a screen to set the 4x6 @ 300dpi?

Yes two donated printers and two readers.
Is there a way to go from camera to(CF card) to the printer and get the desired out put 4x6 300dpi withou the lap top in between. I use Bridge and PS o post work every image I take... that's not the issue. I would like this to be without the laptop and PS.

Thanx for the quick response. I will be using 2 Canon iX6520 printers.
I will have support help bringing cf cards to the printer and delivering the photos at the dinner. I need the expediency for the dinner shots, (aka booth shots). Take 25 photos and print within 20 minutes, and repeat many times.
I do not want to involve my lap top for any PS post work.
How will the image from a15MPX Canon D50, auto to 4x6 at high res, i.e. 300dpi. Will the printer set these values, or can I set the camera to do this?

Need help with set up for taking 4x6 300 dpi from my 50D Canon to a Canon printer using their print/pix software and by-passing the laptop. I need to print 4x6 images in real time at a golf tourney, and hand the prints to the golfers in a matter of minutes. About 250 images will be taken in the short period of time. Any suggestions?

As an assignment for all...
Shoot an image in RAW and save it 5 times as -a, -b, -c, ... In each dash numeber file, and in RAW, change the exposures +1, +2 spot on, -2, -1 and later bring the 5 different images into PS and do the dynamic HDR conversion.

Shoot the same image again and set the Camera AE auto to +1, +2, 0, -1, -2 and use the same PS HDR conversion.

Print each conversion and compare the results. I would like to hear some feedback from those who have taken on this assignment.
Thanx
