Don't worry about things you may "hear". You have a good camera that can, and will take beautiful photos. Learn to use it and enjoy. Do NOT fall into the trap of equipment envy, it will only drive you mad, and broke, and there will still always be a new "latest and greatest" something to sustain the madness. Don't forget the marketing folks work hard to promote addiction and have been as far back as I remember.

;-) Hi there! I think this is great advice...I got the best camera I could afford, and really look forward to learning to use it. I've snapped a few pix and compared to an old Minolta I have, it's a dream...I find all the conversations about noise, and ISO's etc...helpful and interesting as I've never had any classes or such for photography. I'm an old school person...artist wannabe etc...lol! Thanks for the note! S.

Sometimes noise is overstated. I recently went to a ceremony for my granddaughter who was being inducted into the National Honor Society. We were allowed to take photos but could not use a flash. The lighting was very poor so I had to use a very high ISO. If I crop the photos I can go up to an 8X10 and the printed photo looks great however if I do a 100% crop the grain is obvious. My point is that the 8X10 looks great and I’ll never print anything larger so the noise really doesn’t matter in this case.

Hi there! I've jotted this down about low light. A great gem of info. Thank you so much, and I'm glad your pix came out nicely!! And congrats to your granddaughter too. A wonderful accomplishment. :) S.

Im not the best to explain but noise is a fine grainy look to the photo. It can come from using a high ISO setting. I use nikon so not sure what to tell you about the Canon. You could also google it and see what you find or wait long enough and you'll get several commenting. Welcome to the world of dslr. Your going to love it.

Hi B! Thank you! I'll have to play with my camera and learn it. I almost went with Nikon...I had to just guess which to go with. I researched for months and couldn't tell one from the other. Shows what I know. I hope to go on a short drive soon to use it and see what it can do. :) Good to hear from you! S.

Once you learn a little more about noise, I'd go to a dimly lit location like a museum and take a series of pictures at progressively higher ISO settings to see how your particular camera handles low light situations. As stated elsewhere here, there are many good programs, I use Lightroom, that can remove much of the noise from a picture.

A great idea Mr. PC! I got this camera to use to photograph my art so that will be good practice? I will also check out Lightroom. These new cams are just tiny computers...and I'm a real dummy with it all. Thanks so much!

I finally got my new camera...and see a post talking about 'noise'...just wondering what this means? I will guess, maybe it's clutter in a photo? The post said 'putting Canon on notice', and I'm worried now as mine is a Canon EOS T5. Compared to my old Minolta it's sure fancy. We'll see...Anyway, someone let me know what camera noise is? Thanks! :?:

Of course, but we could rent/lease, the house and just space for two horses? SO need a safe place to live...but sure understand Erv. I do wish you all the best in whatever you do! :) And also, I'm sorry you've lost a loved one too. Our lives are so, so very short...

Hi Gary! Thank you! Your the only one to comment on these pix so far, and I appreciate your question too! No, those are fly masks made of a sort of soft vinyl screen that they can actually see thru. They keep flies and mosquitoes out of their eyes. Dirt too. Masks do look funny. Google 'horse products' and just go to any online store and you can see all kinds of masks that look like faces too. Hilarious. Poor horses don't care. They just like to eat grass. :) Thank you again for asking. And seeing my pix. I hope you're having some nice weather over your way! Today was our FIRST really warm day so far! I think we're in for a drought in the midwest this year. Not good. Susan

The spray can kill the good bugs too. Pets as well. Not safe.
