Steve:
Do you print this book in paperback form? I bought the ebook but like to underline & highlight earmark etc.
thank you
Yes it is a great book.
If using back button focus can you use a remote to engage shutter? I seem to get blurry pictures when trying to get into the picture myself.

Thank you 67skylark27. I took some pictures last week with auto ISO and with a UV filter on. The pictures were a bit blurry but my lighting was good (because the ISO really creeped up 6400). I forgot to take the filter off & besides needing more light what other negative does a UV filter cause?
I'm going to take my 50mm f/1.8 & 24-70 f/2.8 Thursday. I will try & post a couple pictures if I remember how. The game will be in another school gymnasium so who knows what the lighting will be like in this school. Thanks again.

Thank you everyone. I was getting discouraged but your enthusiasm has helped me not resort to taking pictures of flowers (its fall they are almost gone). Wish you all a great photo day. Life is good.

67skylark22: perfect timing for your response as Volleyball is currently going on at my grand daughter is playing. I just broke down and bought a D7200 & not sure on what settings to use. I tried auto ISO but it made my shutter too slow. So I ended up with blurry faces but fare lighting. I have the 24-70 2.8 & 50 1.8. Cant wait to shoot her next game. Thank you again. Appreciate your time.

What dx camera would be fast enough to get volleyball shots indoors? Or is an fx the best camera. I want to keep Nikon. Thank you so much for your time

Thank you for the encouragement. I kind of like the size of the 24-70 f 2.8 better for a lady to pack around. Although its not light. I have a 16-300 lens for sports in better lighting.
Will the 24-70 get good sharp photos that I can crop & make players fill the frame like the 200 lens takes?
Thanks for your responses.

105 & 135 are good focal distances you say. On a dx crop camera 24-70 is 36-105. So would you still say its too short or am I confusing things?
Thank you for your reply.

I looked through all 26 pages. A couple responses loved the 24-70. Could it be the 24-70 on a crop camera is longer & therefore a great indoor sports lens?

I see you like the 24-70 for volleyball! Did you shoot with a full frame camera? Would a 1.5 crop Nikon dx5300 work for shooting volleyball?
What ISO did you usually end up shooting in. Do you use shutter speed mode? Do you have particular settings that work best.
Im just getting started photographing high school volleyball & was thrilled to see your post. Volleyball season comes & goes. I just bought a 24-70 2.8 in preparation for the summer leagues. Lots of money to put into a lens. Im hoping it will be worth every penny. I still have time to return it if its not the right lens.
Thank you for your post.

Great photo's
I am just starting to take volleyball photos of district high scholl playoffs. Purchased a 24-70mm lens Im hoping it will be perfect.
Could a d5300 camera with 24-70mm f/2.8 lens be able to get photo's as clear as yours?
What camera, lens & settings did you use?

dennis2146 thank you.
are you saying the combination I have is good or the purchase of d7200 + 70-200mm f/2.8 lens is capable of great photos?

I want to take indoor volleyball & outdoor soccer photo's. I have a Nikon D5300 and a Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Dill VC PZD Macro. My pictures are not sharp and was wondering if I need to upgrade my camera/lens to be able to get good photo's. What would you recommend I do to improve my photo's. Maybe I only need to learn more on how to set the settings correctly. Is my camera capable & not my lens or is my lens capable & not my camera? What do you think?
