I've purchased 3 refurbished Nikons from Cameta Camera in NY - the latest being my D610. They have all worked flawlessly - and Cameta gives a full warranty - not the 90 day Nikon. Hope to find a refurbished D850 one of these days to move up from my D610.

I really like the Pro 100.
Thanks for the info - I, too, looked at the Pro100, but I have limited space in my home office and need copying and scanning capability. Since I've been using an MP970 to print up family photos, I took the plunge the other day on the new Canon TS 9020. I'll post an update after it arrives and I get some prints from it.

I posted yesterday about looking for a replacement for my aged Canon Pixma MP 970 (all in one) printer. It has served me well for nearly 10 years, but I fear the print head is wearing out and Canon driver support stopped a couple of years ago. I am an amateur enthusiast who likes the convenience of printing at home. I line my office walls with pictures of my grandchildren, and update them a few times a year as they grow up. I thought I might want to look at the Canon Pro100, but research suggests it's way more printer than I need. I found one review of the new Canon TS 9020 [all in one] printer today and like what I saw. It gives me the features I need, but am wondering if any of you have personal experience with its photo print quality. It has only 6 ink tanks vs 7 tanks on my MP970. The 9020 comes with a grey tank, while the 970 has a photo C and a photo M tank to supplement the standard CYM colors. I'm going to pull/flush the print head on the 970 after the holiday to see if that will give it a little more life, but even then I'm leaning towards a total replacement for driver support. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

My Canon Pixma MP970 is over 10 years old and seems to have run out of steam - Canon hasn't supported it with updated drivers for some time now. It has been very economical on ink (I started using LD replacement ink based on a few reviews here) and includes two needed functions - scan and copy. I'd like your recommendations on an equally good or better Canon photo printer, as long as it also can scan and copy. Price and size are secondary to meeting my "all in one" needs. I'm an amateur photographer who likes the convenience of home printing, up to 8" x 10" prints. I'm trying hard to avoid buying a dedicated photo printer and a home/office copier/scanner/printer. As always, your advice will be most appreciated.

Lately we seem to have been missing the signs of knife violence. Maybe it's not the gun or the knife, but the violence itself. Should we try and fix the problem and not the symptom?

I have flown to LV 3-5 times a year since 2001, and, I think when you perhaps go to the same destination a lot the algorithm may give you the PreCheck; at any rate, I paid $85 each for my fiancée and me. NOTE; found out after the fact , that, apparently, if you sign up for Global Check for 5 years for $100, PreCheck is included

My wife and I signed up for Global Entry since we vacation in Europe every couple of years. This past month we flew out of JFK to France and had to go through the whole security routine at JFK. Is PreCheck only good for domestic flights? BTW, coming home with Global Entry couldn't have been easier - no lines and the kiosk check only takes a few minutes.

It is not the slot where you put your card into that sets the file to raw, you have to set up your camera to do so - read the manual!

I did set the camera to make slot one = RAW and slot two = JPEG. Previously, I used slot one = JPEG and slot two = Duplicate (as a backup in case of a slot one card failure). Not as helpful feedback as I wanted!

My raw file in my macs Photos shows jpg also. However, these same photo loaded from my card reader direct to Lightroom will show as raw files. Since I only shoot raw with my d610 do not fret and load directly into Lightroom and no worries.

Thanks for the info. Two questions however: 1. my card reader defaults to uploading to Photos - how can I bypass this default process?; 2. I use Pixelmator to do much of my post processing (if I can't get it done by Photos - can I import RAW files to this app if I first upload them to Photos and then import/export them to Pixelmator?

If you have loaded your photos into "Photos" there will be a little square in the lower left hand corner of each photograph. It should look like a double square with JPEG listed for the top square. If you hover over that with your cursor it will indicate that there is a RAW photo stacked under the JPEG. To view the RAW go up to "Images" in the top left selections and scroll down to where it says open RAW (or something like that) when you open that picture in EDIT you will see "RAW at the top of the screen. If it opens in JPEG that will be indicated instead.
If you have loaded your photos into "Photos&q... (show quote)

I can't find the little double box in any corner - I'm using the latest version of El Capitan and Photos. I also don't get either of the drop down options you mention in Images or Edit. I thought perhaps I had reversed the slot designations, but checked this morning and, in fact, the card I uploaded was from slot one which is the RAW card. As suggested in another reply, I'll Google RAW and see what I can learn.

I just came home from a vacation where I shot in RAW for the first time (slot one = RAW, slot two = JPEG). When I uploaded all my slot one card photos into Photos and looked at the "get info", all the pictures are listed as JPEG. Does Photos automatically convert a RAW image to JPEG when importing it from a Lexar card reader? If not, is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? Finally, what Mac compatible apps are best suited for pp RAW files which I would then save as JPEGs? I've been pp files for several years (always JPEG), so I hope this isn't a newbie/too simple question. And I prefer the advice of experienced UHHers to doing a generic Google search of the question.

Jerry: Besides the beautiful rebuild of the classic engine, what strikes me about this effort is the guys who did it - not engineers or college educated professionals, but probably guys who bowl on Thursday night, drink a couple of beers on the weekend, and hunt with their friends. I grew up and live on LI, and know a few of the guys who worked at Grumman and built the LEM and the F-14 - just regular guys who built the most sophisticated machines ever designed. I'm really in awe of their talent and it should get more recognition. Just my humble opinion.

So, I spoke with a tech support rep today and was told there are no additional profiles available for this model printer, and that I should use the profile for "Photo Paper Plus Glossy - SP3 or SP4. I tried it and was not satisfied with the result. I may just shelve the paper until I get a newer printer, hoping it includes support for this paper profile (but not until I use up my supply of ink, since it won't work in any of the newer Canon printers).

I have an [old] Canon Pixma MP970 printer which is no longer supported with printer driver updates. I run an iMac with El Capitan. Recently, I was given a large supply of Canon Pro Platinum paper. However, when I go to the print window/color matching/color sync drop down menu, I don't see this paper represented. Is there a third party source or alternative paper profile I can use. My prints come out light and somewhat washed out. When I print the same photo on RR paper with the correct paper profile provided by RR, the colors/exposure are fine. Any thoughts? Thanks.
