Jerry: Besides the beautiful rebuild of the classic engine, what strikes me about this effort is the guys who did it - not engineers or college educated professionals, but probably guys who bowl on Thursday night, drink a couple of beers on the weekend, and hunt with their friends. I grew up and live on LI, and know a few of the guys who worked at Grumman and built the LEM and the F-14 - just regular guys who built the most sophisticated machines ever designed. I'm really in awe of their talent and it should get more recognition. Just my humble opinion.
Back in the day I rebuilt my 52 Ford flatblock. It was nothing like this. What I remember is all the crawling around under the car and a struggle all the way. It was my first attempt at a rebuild and it didn't take another to make me decide that I wouldn't make a living at this field of endeavor. Of course, I never had a shop setup like this, or the expertise to make it easier on myself. But still, I appreciated the learning experience.

My '53 Ford could idle so smoothly and slow that you could actually see the individual blades on the fan.
