I have been in the same position. After chats with both B and H and Dell I plaln to get Dell Inspiron 15-5000 with i7, 8gb, and 1tb Sata hard drive. There are some compromises but this seems reasonable with adequate quality and in my $500-$1000 budget
I am about to use PS for the first time. It appears than PS elements 15 would be appropriate for me. One version of it includes premiere. Is there any significant difference. It this a good place to begin?
I need a good flashlight to use with my night photo expeditions. I have looked at e-bay, amazon and B and H at the 18650 lithium battery lights. ptices tange from 4.99 yo 89.99. Some of the reviews clailm that these are all cheap Jananese models and no better than a Maglite. Any of you hogs have some first hand information?
I am about to begin my journey into post processing. I understand that elements 15 is good for beginners ? I plan to buy it and then begin with a photo workshop shooting during the day and processing in the evening. I will need a portable device for the elements. suggestions?

$1,000-$1,500 is way out of my budget.
You are right on. I don't need another POS.
Wow! I missed the first wine comment so I was totally lost about the connection between RAW and cheap wine. Back on topic does RAW provide better quality the larger the enlargement gets?
If I shoot RAW+jpg will either Photoshop or Lightroom edit and make the conversion. The website for each suggests that only lilghtroom will process RAW.
My current tripod is old, clunky and won't go low for macro. On the other hand it goes to 66" full extension. I would really like to replace it with a travel tripod in the $50-$150 range. There are no good camera stors locally so I can't try one out. I ballhead over pan and tilt head a functional or personal choice. any suggestions?
