I'm not a professional but have a backlog of slides and color, as well as B&W, negs that can now be accessed via digital scanning. Everything has been scanned to digfital via a Canon FS4000 film and slide scanner. I have tried other methods that employ the use of a digital camera taking a photo of a slide, or the use of an
Epson 700 flat bed, but neither has come close to the results from the dedicated film/neg Canon scanner. In my opinion it makes no sense to shoot film these days unless you, have a specific reason to do so. My slides/film go back to 1963 and are amateur quality but still very good. I spent time in Saigon and shot a load of slides, and b&w, on a Minolta SRT101 while there. All have been scanned on the Canon FS4000 and I am quite happy with the results, especailly compared to the Epson 700 and the various methods of using a digital camera to copy them. That's my experience so take it for what it's worth!

After a few years I made the decision to rescan everything as DNG files using Vuescan software. I realized I needed a copy of each frame that could be worked on by future generations of nieces and nephews! The most important decision, to me, was to add descriptions in the accompanying comments. I learned this from the photos my stepfather took while in the 8th Air Force in England in WW2. His comments were sketchy so I endeavored to rectify that in my photos.

Brings to mind memorable W C Fields' lines.

One of my favorites: In response to "Don't strike that child!" he snaps back, "No child of mine is going to say I don't love him!"

"We Don't Need No Stinkin Badges", from The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

I know that line is very popular but it's a misquote. The line goes, "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges."

My late brother-in-law was a carpenter who showed me that a piece of wood in the hole with some Elmer's Glue should do the trick. What you could do is get a wooden coffee stirrer at a coffee bar and clip off a very thin length of wood, just enough to fill a little bit of space. Try for something a lot thinner than a toothpick. Stick it in the hole to adjust the size then put it in with a little glue. The screw should set nicely if you are careful about how little you need to use!

I also have 2 brother laser printers. One with wireless (bluetooth) and the other not. "With" a router that will "handle" routing of printing to a non-wireless as mine does . . . why does it matter?

It's a matter of bandwidth. If you need a wider bandwidth then Bluetooth is not the way to go. Copying PDFs is not a problem with Bluetooth, but if you are printing photos you need something better than Bluetooth.

I'm sure there are capable Bluetooth printers but I have my Brother B&W laser printer plugged directly into my wifi router so that any device logged into my wifi can print to it.

Good to know. Do you use OEM toner?

Yes I do, but I'm not a big user. A toner cartridge can last me a long time as I only print one or two pages a day at most.

I have a Brother HL-L2370DW bought in Oct 2018 and it is still working fine. It never gives me a bit of trouble and I have it plugged into my router so it can be used by anyone throughout the apartment. I noticed that my pulmonologist has a similar, if not identical, Brother printer in every room in his office and has been using them for quite a few years.

There are still Ragamuffin Parades in neighborhoods and towns all around New York City. You can Google it.

My wife grew up on East 28 Street in Manhattan and she took part in the Madison Sq Boys & Girls Club Parade when she was a little girl. I grew up in Woodside, Queens and we dressed up as ragamuffins on Thanksgiving until about 1950. We also went door to door asking "Anything for Thanksgiving?" That became "Anything for Halloween?" in the late 1940s and we did both those days although on Halloween we didn't do costuming but wore old clothes as we were beating each other with a sock full of flour! Halloween seemed to be mostly about flour and chalk!

I want more 25% discounts like at Walgreens! These niggling 10% discounts aren'y enough to draw me into the store. After all, isn't that what I fought for after two years as a 71R?

Thank you.
I might add I disagree with those vets who think the country was better in their days in the 1960s and '70s. I also served in Vietnam 1968-1969 but not in a combat role.
