After I posted a question about duplex printing, several people recommended a laser printer. Looking at reviews on "The Wire Cutter," I saw this opening statement.

"Printers are annoying. All of them."

Excellent! Printers seem to have minds of their own, but they are not very good minds.

The Wire Cutter recommendation for a budget laser is the Brother HL-L2350DW, $123 at Amazon. Amazon has none, but B&H has it for $149 with no sales tax. Do any of you have that printer? I'll read some reviews.

In case you haven't realize this yet, reviews on Amazon are a waste of time, especially the bad reviews. People complain because a certain printer came with a CD, or the box was damaged, or a non-wireless printer can't print wirelessly. I prefer watching YouTube reviews done by people who review electronics all the time.

EDIT: Very good reviews. I'm ordering it tomorrow from B&H. The toner cost difference is amazing, though - $70 for Brother, and $10 for generic. I'll play it safe and get the Brother.

I have had more than one of those printers. All have worked perfectly. It is a Brother model which has been around for a long time, in one model number or another. I used them in business and at home and never had one failure at all. As far as toner cartridges, I did use some reputable third party units and had no problems. I can count on that printer working when my wife's newer, wireless, color, ink consuming machine fails.

I have one currently. Works very well and seems incredibly economical to run.

I miss our old Canon color laser printer, because, well, color, but not the $400+ for a set of cartridges.

Specs seems to be OK except that it's only B&W. I know Jerry you do want to print in color for your flyers etc..
It has wireless but I don't use wireless. I simply connect the printer via cable to the Wifi router then I can still print wireless. It's much more reliable that way. However, B&W only toner cost tend to be much less expensive than the color ones.

There is usually a warning about using anything but the original toner stating it will invalidate your warranty. I would recommend using OEM toner until the printer is out of warranty and then switching to generic for the savings. I've been using generic ink in my Brother printer for the last three years with no problems. I get three sets of ink for less than a single set of OEM ink.

Even though it costs much more, I'm going to use the OEM toner. If I get 3,000 pages, that's just $0.023 per page.

I’ve had a Brother L2380 for years, and always use Refills. I used to do Toner Cartridge Refills as part of my Computer business. Now retired, I just get Linkyo (or sim to) refills. Very inexpensive at Amazon, $20~25 per pair, high yield. Each cartridge should last maybe a year. I chose the 2380 for the print, copy, scan features. Quite useful when you need the copy feature.
I Never had a failure on the Brother Laser Printers in well over a decade of Brother printing.

I have a Brother Laser printer, bought a few years ago. It sits in standby most of the time, but when I need to print, it prints.

Yes. It wasn't available yesterday, so I'm getting one from B&H, arriving on Tuesday.

So you like the Linkyo toner? Not currently available on Amazon. It's also out of stock at Walmart, but their price is two for $14.00. That's compared with $144 for an Epson pair.

I have 2 Brother laser printers. One is 4 years old and is print only (low end). The 2nd printer is a print and copy only (also low end). Both these printers are wireless. I have 24 years of owning various makes and price range of printers and these 2 printers are the most trouble free by far. For my needs I will probably never go back to ink printers. Incidentally I use a generic toner that costs me about $30 that I buy from my local printer repair/sales store. They get the ink from a large LA. and have never had any toner problems. I get my toner from a local Palm Springs printer repair/sale store that gets the toner from a large dealer in LA. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

I have a Brother HL-L2370DW bought in Oct 2018 and it is still working fine. It never gives me a bit of trouble and I have it plugged into my router so it can be used by anyone throughout the apartment. I noticed that my pulmonologist has a similar, if not identical, Brother printer in every room in his office and has been using them for quite a few years.

Good to know. Do you use OEM toner?
