They're hated in the UK because they are an invasive species that, because of the diseases they carry, they have almost wiped out the far more beautiful native red squirrels:

I've heard this before about squirrels in the UK. I suppose beauty is a personal thing...I do not find the red squirrel with ear tufts to be all that adorable. They are nice and an oddity for me, but I find the Grey Squirrel, Cat Squirrel, and the Fox Squirrel to be much cuter. We also have a grey Albert's Squirrel with those ear tufts, but for me they are also more of a curiosity rather than they are a pretty squirrel.

I live in the NorthWest suburbs of Houston. We had 8 inches of rain on Sunday. You guys are welcome to come have some, but regrettably we are not able to provide transportation, you will have to take care of that for yourselves.

I live only about an hour from Houston (northeast of Huntsville). Saturday AND Sunday we only got 1 inch of rain all together. Lots of thunder boomers but we haven't been getting much rain for a long time. I was hoping we'd get at least 3 inches. For some reason, the rain always tends to break up on the outskirts of Trinity and resumes on the other side of Huntsville. But Texas is like that.

Go to a museum, look and see what matches. Actually quite easy, I have done it several times.

That really is a wonderful idea, however, these are something from either Canada or from Ohio, and I currently live in Texas. Museums here will not have anything to match. I pretty much have to make contact with someone of general knowledge who does this and sees things like this regularly, or I need to connect with a college with a department that is studying Native artifacts and wants to look at them.

Does anyone have any idea who and how to contact someone who can authenticate, and identify possible date and area of origin for Native artifacts? I have been writing to Universities asking for help for many years and have yet to receive anything back from them showing any interest in even looking at my photos. My father claimed to have found them about 1933 and they are remarkable. He passed them on to me with little explanation of how he came to have them but he said he got them at the age of 16 one summer when his father ordered him to working on a distant relative's farm to "build character."

They grew wild in my backyard when I lived in San Antonio. I didn't water them and they sprung up everywhere. They didn't get red at Christmas and that's probably because they weren't potted and didn't get hauled inside to force the color change but I know they are normally comfortable in dryer climates.

I'm not smart about computers so this may be worth nothing, but I had this happening to my laptop. Called my son who is an IT. He quickly figured out that I had 2 antivirus programs running at the same time and they were in conflict. Apparently, I didn't realize my laptop came with an antivirus program installed, and I thought I was doing a good thing by installing the subscription program I had on my former laptop. I turned off the real time on one of them and the problem was solved.

lamiaceae, is your avatar of a Walker Hound? I wondered because it looks so very much like my daughter's Tree Walker Hound.

A half gallon for $57 - maybe not!

My sister sent me a small kit for $20. I can mix it as I need it and save the rest for other projects. I don't know where she found it tho. Check with a hobby shop.

Envirotex used to be the thing for that. Don't know if they still make it but try Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or one of the other craft stores. It's an epoxy type of material that you mix half and half (very well I might add) and pour it over the item. It self levels. Try not to get bubbles when you are mixing but if you do usually blowing on the surface after poring will take care of it. I have an item I did 40 years ago and it looks exactly the same.

This would have been my suggestion. I do many projects with this product. I do start with Modge Podge and I use a soft non-synthetic brush to apply it. When dry, a quick coat of polyurethane and then the Enviroex. BTW, that can also be gently brushed on - doesn't have to be poured - and it will still self level if you act quickly.

I was 12 years old that CHRISTMAS and I remember it well . More meaningful than the actual lunar landing seven months later . The Apollo 8 crew with Frank Borman as flight commander . I'll never forget it . I'm not sure , but I think Jim Lovell took the picture . Anyone know ?

Anders took it and two others.
