Update on OS Support for Next Version of Lightroom
Posted on January 21, 2015 by Sharad Mangalick | Comments (33)
We are hard at work on the next major release of Lightroom, and wanted to share some information on operating system requirements in order to give everyone time to prepare for the release.

In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Focusing our work on more modern operating systems and architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users, including additional advanced imaging features and improving general application performance.

If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows, you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile. However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system.

If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.7, Apple offers a free upgrade (here) to a more current operating system. For Windows users, Microsoft has a how-to reference (here) to help you determine whether you are running a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.

You may be able to upgrade from 3 to 5 now, but once 6 comes out, you may not be able to. A lot of companies will only allow upgrades back to certain releases without paying extra fees. Especially if they no longer support that version. It may be to your advantage to upgrade to 5, then when 6 comes out, the upgrade should be less expensive if not free.

Cheers for a good reply. Dave

I have been using Lightroom 4. I did't upgrade because it was only incremental upgrade. I hear that 6 is going to be the same.
But I think that from 3 to 4 was a big jump, so I think that it would be worth it. But I think that 6 is going to come out, maybe this spring. Maybe hold out for a few months.
Cheers for reply top cat.

Your system will need to have this as a minimum.

And that sums up my problem. One of the voices keeps telling me to turn it up, the other to turn it down. The third one just sort of listens to the other two quietly, with interest. Amidst all of that, I'm trying to keep things no more than 1/2 bubble off level.

Introverts measured along a continuum , the volume of life is turned up! within their personality trait, They do not have to create any noise enough stimuli is present. Extroverts the volume of life within their psychi is turned down, thus they have to create noise. Noise is referring to the stimuli of life. Murderers can be plotted along these axis ie; neurotic extroverts,(dangerous) neurotic introverts (overkill). There is overlaps between the two competing concepts.

Hi: Great winter scenes. Almost make me want to get back up to Canada. But we are enjoying a warm winter in Florida this year and my wife would not be very pleased.
I was evacuated from Manchester to the village of Hayfield on Sept 1st 1939. Are your pictures taken close to that village?
Dick K.

Hi Dick thanks for looking! Hayfield is in between Glossop and New mills , estimate about 34.0 miles from where I live . Haslingden is the town where I come from which is further North (east Lancashire ) .Funny enough both my Uncles were evacuated to Haslingden from Manchester 1939 Highfield house is where they lived for 3 years.Have a good new year Dave
