Hi been using light room 3 for a number of years . Thinking of upgrading. Would I have to purchase light room 5 as a complete package or would it be possible to upgrade to light room 5. Thanxs in advance!
I have been using Lightroom 4. I did't upgrade because it was only incremental upgrade. I hear that 6 is going to be the same.
But I think that from 3 to 4 was a big jump, so I think that it would be worth it. But I think that 6 is going to come out, maybe this spring. Maybe hold out for a few months.

I would wait about a month, LR 6 is about to be released.
https://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2015/01/update-on-os-support-for-next-version-of-lightroom.htmlYour system will need to have this as a minimum.
In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.

Cheers for reply top cat.
Don't forget to consider the Adobe subscription for $9.99 a month, not sure what it is in the UK. You'll probably get a year for the price of the upgrade plus you get full blast Photoshop. Good luck!

Update on OS Support for Next Version of Lightroom
Posted on January 21, 2015 by Sharad Mangalick | Comments (33)
We are hard at work on the next major release of Lightroom, and wanted to share some information on operating system requirements in order to give everyone time to prepare for the release.
In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Focusing our work on more modern operating systems and architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users, including additional advanced imaging features and improving general application performance.
If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows, you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile. However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system.
If you are currently running Mac OS X 10.7, Apple offers a free upgrade (here) to a more current operating system. For Windows users, Microsoft has a how-to reference (here) to help you determine whether you are running a 32 or 64 bit version of Windows.
You may be able to upgrade from 3 to 5 now, but once 6 comes out, you may not be able to. A lot of companies will only allow upgrades back to certain releases without paying extra fees. Especially if they no longer support that version. It may be to your advantage to upgrade to 5, then when 6 comes out, the upgrade should be less expensive if not free.
