Look at a gimbal head on a very solid tripod!! Mine are all from Manfrotto. I don't have access to the model numbers at this time. Heavy lenses like this need the best support you can find. They are always mounted on the lens. It will distort the camera mounting ring if you have that weight unsupported. Enjoy!
Hi Dman. Had my 100-400 for over ten years. Taken over 30.000 bird pics and no dust.
I have had mine for 8 years. Use it all the time. Just noticed a small piece of something in the lens like a fine thread. But I was shooting in a marsh doing a lot of zooming! It's my favorite go to lens!
I have this lens. It's one if my favorites! Just make sure you get a really good tripod and the gimbal head. It made a huge difference in focusing having the stability of that! Just make sure you get the USA warranty with it. It does suck in dust I am about to send mine out to be cleaned. I keep hoping it will blow the dust back out lol but it does not seem to bother the photos!
I do it all the time. I use an Epson V600. You can scan them up to something crazy like 123000 that's thousand dpi I normally do 5000 I scan my negatives from my Hasselblad B&W in this way. It's really easy yu can tweak things before the final scan if needed.
It is amazing how different programs print. I prefer to print from my Canon program over any of the PP programs I have. All printers are profiled and monitor calculated with a spider. I print exactly what I see on the monitor. It just seems that the canon program that came with the camera has extra depth, quality and color richness. No clue why, I have been printing my own work for many years. It's consistent across the board with new computers, printers and monitors. Could be that canon to canon compatibility thing!!
