Printing From Editing Applications or Windows Viewer

After a careful examination and comparison, I have noticed that photographs have greater overall sharpness and detail when I print from the Windows viewer rather than when I print from other software editing applications, even after performing the edits and saving the photos to my pictures. Is this unusual?

It is amazing how different programs print. I prefer to print from my Canon program over any of the PP programs I have. All printers are profiled and monitor calculated with a spider. I print exactly what I see on the monitor. It just seems that the canon program that came with the camera has extra depth, quality and color richness. No clue why, I have been printing my own work for many years. It's consistent across the board with new computers, printers and monitors. Could be that canon to canon compatibility thing!!

Thank you for your reply. I have printed from Canon's Image Browser and DPP programs and still, printing from the Windows viewer produces better prints. I've printed from Corel Paintshop and Nikon NX2 and other programs-still, Windows wins out. Damnest thing I ever saw.
