Thanks to all of you. I think I'v got it now. When I first read about this subscription system I didn't like it but when I realized that it includes a full version of PhotoShop I think that impressive.

I am going to order it.

I have Lightroom 6 and Photoshop Elements but I was wondering if there is any merit in going g to the CC version with Photoshop' I hate to sound stupid but I don't think I understand how the CC version works with Creative Cloud. Does that mean I have to use Creative Cloud for my picture storage?

My biggest concern is just how much this will increase my internet usage. I am on a limited amount of usage every month and I am always close to using it up.

I agree that there is absolutely no noticeable lag of any sort with my A6000. When I first read that complaint I thought maybe I missed something so I checked it out today. Lag is not an issue.

The two complaint that I tend to agree with with my camera is that cause it is so small the layout of the buttons and knobs is less convenient than on a larger camera and the use of menus slows you down a bit as well but with all of the cameras advantages that nitpicking I think. You could make the same complaint about cellphones but I don't see anyone wanting to go back to dial-up phones.

I don't understand the bickering here about Mirroless vs DSLR cameras. If you prefer one over the other, fine. But don't disparage the ones you are not using.
I have four DSLRs and three Mirrorless cameras and enjoy using all of them.
I like getting the best images I can out of all of them. To me that is what makes photography fun and interesting.

I'd be very interested to hear makes you makes you decide to use one type over the other when you plan to go out shooting and possibly which type you use the most and for what type of photography?

Today I wouldn't consider a camera without EVF because with EVF you can see exactly what your picture is going to look like and make setting changes before taking the shot. That's not possible with OVF.

I agree. Get the best of both worlds and get a tripod that has a built in monopod. For me the monopod is much less successful in reducing camera shake shake than a tripod. First time I used one I was pretty surprised that the monopod was not all that much better than a handheld.

How about the best of both worlds? I use a Sirui P-204S 63" 4-Section Aluminum Monopod which is a stable monopod with 3 small feet at the bottom that can be folded out for greater stability. I found with a simple monopod that I might be swaying or causing other movement with the hand that was holding the monopod. While I still support this newer monopod, I find it to be much more stable. I still use my Manfrotto tripod for the heavy stuff, but the Sirui is much more portable.

What happens when you try to take a picture if the camera doesn't recognize the lens. While it still take a picture? I am sort of wondering if the Release Without Lens selection is turned on.

I know the 18-200mm is not perfect but like you said one you get into a telephoto with a range like that there are going to be problems. However everyone I know who has one likes it. I can't count the shots I've missed because I didn't have time to change lenses so I would definitely give it a go and buy more specific lenses later.

BKellyUSA, I like the Sony 18-200 because of its versatility, but you should know that it has all the problems typical of extreme zooms including barrel distortion at both ends of the range. It and the Sony are my travel camera kit and it is wonderful for that-- light, convenient, all-purpose-- but there are better quality lenses for the Sony line.

I am not familiar with the other cameras recommended here but I have a SONY A6000 and love it. If I was buying one now I would get it with the 18-200 mm lens others are recommending. With that you can do just about anything and once you are use to using the camera you can add more specific lenses. On of the nicest things about the A6000 is that it is extremely popular and has all sorts of internet support in the way of Facebook groups, Youtube videos and fan forums.

Don't forget the Absynthe. It's very good and very interesting drink. It's served at several locations but the Absynthe House is the one I know best.

The dress code at Commander cody's easier at luncH as well. Still no tee shirts or saNdals. More like Business Casual. Dinner is strictly suit and tie.

If you want to move up from Commanders Palace then there is the Sonesta which is thought to be one of the five best restaurants in the world. It's in the French Quarter as well. It's expensive so bring your banker.

A place I love is the Royal Inn in the French Quarter. Great food and drinks in a lovely open to the outdoors restaurant. Dress is casual.

Antoine's may be oldest highly regarded restaurants in the French Quarter. It's pure New Orleans in every way. I haven't eaten there in the last few years but I can't imagine it being anything other than impressive.

As many people have already pointed out New Orleans is a photographers dream, It's hard not to find something interesting to shoot. One of my favorites and the photos I get the most compliments about are from the Mardis Gras Museum. It's where the floats are built and stored. A very interesting place and you can walk around at will.

Bourbon St. might be something you want to shoot at night just because of all the neon and the crowds but the streets closer to the river and Jackson Square are more interesting. The cathedral at Jackson Square is awesome but it is closed by about 4:00 or maybe even earlier. It's a must see site and it's free to get in.

I disagree about how dangerous New Orleans is these days. New Orleans has seen some significant improvements in the last few years in many areas. I think putting mayor Ray Nagin into the penitentiary scared off decades of corrupt politicians and career criminals. It's still not perfect but it's headed in the right direction.

Last but not least you need to take photos at The St. Louis Cemetary above Bourbon St. and within in walking distance (two blocks). It's not open at night and I wouldn't go there at night if it was. It's the famous cemetery from the Easy Rider movie but it or the one out by Commanders Palace are featured in every group of pictures of New Orleans that you have probably ever seen.

There's lots more but this is at least a days worth of shooting if you are real serious about getting it done.

Have fun and enjoy yourself.

[quote=sirlensalot]Yes, it is true. That is why I had such a hard time with so many reports of batteries that had to be changed after 300+ shots. I use the 6000 mainly for low-light / no flash shooting. Wondering if on-camera flash and/or video mode can be a reason for fast battery drain, or maybe settings? I use BBF, continuous AF, hi-speed, center focus point only, and usually but not always use the EVF. Use manual focus but not much. I turn camera off intermittently throughout event(s), but not for very long.
Based on posts, I did purchase an after market second battery a couple of months after I bought it, including a charger, but have yet to rely on it. Old habits die hard, as I always take at least one spare battery to an event regardless of how long it will be

I need that battery!

I think all too often you get people comparing a $500.00 PC computer to a $1,600.00 Apple and claiming that the Apple is better. With that kind of cost disparity it's no surprise that someone might favor the Mac. I have a $1,100.00 Lenovo with a 500GB SSD, a QHD display screen and 3200X1800 (yes, you are reading that right) lines of resolution. It's super thin, superlight and convertible so it can be be used like a tablet as well. I am thrilled with the computer. I've never seen one I liked better. No problems whatsoever.

The biggest problem with the PC's over the years has been the constant upgrades to the operating system. With the release of Windows 10 those days are history. Microsoft has already announced that there will be occasional upgrades to that system but otherwise it's their last and final operating system.
