If it's a steep learning curve, than you should master it in no time.....good luck! :)

"Steep learning curve" misuse is one of my pet peeves (along with point blank) it's on of the most abused terms I know. It means the exact opposite of what many people think.

Your heading is a bit misleading. The recommendation is only for Wndows users.

The adage "too much memory is never enough" is especially applicable to image processing.

One of my friends sent me this message on FB

Quote:
Hi Mike. How do you get wrinkles out of a picture? I've had it in between two books for a few months and it's helped, however not good enough. It's a very important pic and it's the original....HELP

I've done a bit of personal restoration but nothing physical. I want some one else to do it as I don't want any drama from the queen. Any recommendations?

Reminds me of an old film technique for Waterfalls. You take 3 tripod held shots of the waterfall each with a different filter (RGB) then sandwich them for the final shot. The main body of the fall is white as expected but the spray is parsed out in RGB.

Get a jigsaw app that accepts your own images. Load an image into it and solve the puzzle. Once you've done a couple of puzzles you'll have a good feel for the tablet.

It comes with "Photo" and it should be more than enough if you are doing basic adjustments.

Unbeknown to many people is that Photos.app is now extensible. Search the App Store for "photos extension" and several will show up. BeFunky Express and Magic HDR seem to be useful. External Editors allows you to choose an external editor from all available on your system then automatically feed the revisions back to Photos.

This is a recent addition so keep your eyes open for future releases of extensions.

I've got a smartphone but I don't use it much for photography though hat may change when I get my auxiliary flash unit for it. I'll turn the unit around and use it to trigger my studio lights.

Nice Zeiss optics with a larger sensor than my DMZ-ZS40 which has a 24-720mm equivalent designed by Leica.

The procedure sometimes worked but it was lazy, it was better to open the lid and reset everything. Reseating everything in a computer was part of standard summer maintenance (I worked in school districts). Early digitizing boards used a matrix of fine wires which sometimes got crossed or twisted together and lifting one edge of the tablet about 2 inches and dropping it was a recommended procedure.

I do use smart collections but…

…here is something to think about. The function of a smart collection is to collect images you have already taken action on.

A collection action would do the inverse: it would take action or actions on an image it collected.

All the most useful functions in math and science have inverse functions. Addition has subtraction as its inverse, multiplication has division and LaGrange transforms have inverse La Grange transforms to name a few inverse couples. I am only suggesting that LightRoom has the potential to mimic that symmetry.

Why not simply make use of import presets to apply keywords, or by adding as the first step in an import process....

Because I import 10 or more images a day that need to be sorted into different categories. Having a keyword in an import preset would be meaningless.

As I indicated I know I can do a mass assignment but it's an extra step.
