Thanks to all for the kind comments. May I add that if you look closely the bunting seems to have brush strokes as if it had been painted instead of photographed. I guess that is why they are called painted buntings ==Duh.

Pat

Thanks Pat. I just looked at your Eagle pictures and they are very nice. I have visited this location several years ago and got a few good shots. I just needed more glass. At the time I had thought about trying to locate the owner to see if I could shoot from the other side on the ranch property. Got chicken and did not follow thru. Guess I was afraid I would be turned down. Its happened before.

These friends were taken a few years ago. They are back and I hope that the weather will cooperate so that I can visit them again. Spring has sprung here in South Texas. Thanks for viewing .

It's been that price here for a while.
That's why, like Tex, I prefer Bailey's.

Love your bird Tex !!

Big Bear---Thanks. The painted bunting is fun to shoot and we have so many here in South Texas. I admire your Bear. We don't have them yet but I understand that a few have been seen along the border.

You gotta pick a lot of cotton to buy a bottle of milk. Wonder if Bourbon taste good on cereal.

SX50.

Here is an update on some of my babies. I hadn't seen the foals for 6 weeks, & they sure have grown. The youngest one, Sandy, can always find some mud somewhere. The Appy's blanket is developing nicely. Please feel free to download.

Hey Mr. Dook. Use the other lens and camera and lets compare.

#1 - ISO 80, f/7.1, 1/400 sec., 25 mm equiv angle of view. Manual exposure mode, no tripod. Shot in raw and processed in PSE 12.

#2 - ISO 200, 5/7.1, 1/400 sec. Slight poster edges added to this one. While processing in the "Camera Raw," I noticed that if I changed from auto-white balance to cloudy, I got less brilliant blue sky (though the sky really was dark blue!) and warmer rocks.

#3 - a chukar! Shot at 2x in-camera teleconverter, making it equiv. of 2400 mm. Also was cropped. Some edits attempted in PSE 12 (jpg original, not raw).
#1 - ISO 80, f/7.1, 1/400 sec., 25 mm equiv angle ... (show quote)

Nice work Linda. I am interested in the SX 50 and your shots are making me more anxious to own this camera. Might wait for the 60. As of now no one seems to know when it will appear. What to do? Any way, Interesting shots.

Beautiful shots as usual but what happened to your BLACK velvet. Is it in the cleaners? I do like the back ground on these however. You might tell us how you set the back ground up----with a frame, etcÂ… outside or inside etc.. Sorry -Just nosey.

I plan to purchase this filter for my Sigma 150--500 lens (86mm). Tiffen has one for $69.00 and Hoya has one for $159.00. Of course I would like to purchase the Tiffen because of the lower cost or should I go for the Hoya.
