I'm paying my friend $114 for a front row ticket to a Buddy Guy performance on Thursday. I looked on the site, and Big Thief will be playing there soon. Tickets are $652 for center orchestra seats. That boggles my mind. That's $1,304 before the "convenience fee" for a couple to attend...

And don't say it's inflation! The cost wasn't even a consideration back then; now, it's a joke.

In the early 2000s, my brother gave me a pair of tickets to a James Taylor/Carol King concert at Madison Square Garden right above Pennsylvania Station, basically in the sports arena. Our tickets were in the "Peanut Gallery," several rows from the top where large screens allowed the performers to be seen. We were so far up in the balcony that we would need binoculars to see them! Plus the tickets were close to $200 for the pair. It was the first and only time I went to a music concert!

I wonder how photo competitions will function in the future. With Topaz and similar programs, many abnormalities in the original image can be repaired, reasonably well, with PS AI it appears that one will be able to totally remake an image. The question is when will classic art and photography will merge and make separate photo competitions irrelevant?

toxdoc42!

Very often camera clubs have a category called "Altered Reality" where such extreme editing is permitted. However, international competitions need to define the extent to which editing is permitted beyond simple "levels, contrast, color correction and other minor fixes" that are permitted. Recently, several AI-generated images won the top prizes in two international competitions.

Just some possibilities for your focusing issues. As I use Nikon and Canon higher-end DSLRs and only recently bought a Mirrorless Nikon body, here are my thoughts based on using these brands and digital equipment since the early 2000s.

Several points:
Your image of the horse is at 200mm but the shutter speed is at the barely acceptable minimum speed (1/focal length) while the maximum lens opening at that focal length is F6.3! Your exposure was 1/250 sec @ F8. F8 is only 2/3 of a stop closed down so the depth of field is much less than using, say F11. How optimum is the sharpness at F8? Could the sweet spot be at F11? Perhaps a faster shutter speed is also needed?

Your image seems to be overall soft. Have you checked to see if there is a plane of sharpness somewhere in the image whether in front of or behind the horse? The image seems to have an overall softness, that the lens's focus just didn't quite make it there to the subject. In my experience using a Nikon's 28-300mm F3.5 lens, I have sometimes encountered the first exposure of a scene to be slightly soft while the subsequent exposures of the same scene are sharp. I always take additional shots to be sure that I'm OK sharpness-wise. I do use "Back Button Focus." Another thing that I notice is that when the lens needs to travel a bit from one focal length to another, especially a telephoto one, say 35 or 50mm to 200 or 300mm, that there is the occasional soft image. I always shoot additional shots as well! Could your problem be mechanical, an internal one?

Someone mentioned glasses. Is your Diopter properly adjusted? I need +3 or the viewfinder is a slight blur to me.

Just my 2 cents! Be well! Ed

Maybe I'll print the book. Printing 630 pages shouldn't take long, right?

Jerry!

If your eyesight is good, why not try printing the pages, 2-up, that is 2 pages side by side (landscape) on each printed page? You'll then only need 315 sheets of paper. And if you are really skillful, the front and back of the paper will require a mere 158 sheets of paper.

How do I split and print a landscape into 3 panels? I am going to print on canvas as a wrap in some cases but not in others.

brettmilden!

Generally, canvas wrap prints will have the printed image wind around the 4 sides of the frames that the canvas is printed and stretched on. This procedure is similar to a painting that's conventionally on a stretched canvas. The four sides can be "blank" or have part of the image as well and will depend on whether your triptych is butted together to appear as one wide image or there will be more space between them. I would research the people and company who will be producing your wrapped prints. Ask about your sizing and requirements for the 4 wrapped sides of your images. How deep will the wrapped sides be? Do they have templates?

Look at the sample images below: most canvas-wrapped prints will have part of the image on the 4 sides (first image) while some can be made white or black or anything else or color as in the second example. Part of your choice will be esthetics, the area to display your images and the sizes of your prints. Basically, do you want to see portions of the prints from the side?

For more info and pics, Google: "Wrapped canvas triptych photo prints"

As others have said: divide your full image into as many sections as you wish and use the vendor printing specs and templates.

I've had canvas wraps done in the past and with a little planning, they can look spectacular!

Hi all!

I ordered some new Kaster brand batteries from eBay and got the same screen message on my Nikon Z5 that I purchased in January. Kaster, Power 2000 and Vivitar brand batteries work without a problem with my Nikon D810s, D800s and D750s! No problems with my older EN-EL15 batteries in the Z5.

Interesting Infographics! They never mentioned one common problem of money: its debasement whether coins or currency. With all systems, the money loses value and very often becomes worthless than even toilet paper!

Be well! Hope you're all enjoying this Memorial Weekend.

Why not try selling here on UHH? I've done over a dozen transactions here from books on the Nikon D3s while also buying D3 and D3s bodies. A Mamiya RB67 traded for a second D3s body as well; a 35mm slide and negative digitizing lens adapter; a lens ringlight; lenses and a couple of other cameras.

Every transaction has been smooth and problem free on both sides! You may get more $$ as there are no fees!

Is this considered a kit lens?

No, but this lens could be if you bought it along with an FX body at the same time! I bought two of them, a new one for $908.00, 2 years after I bought my D700 in 2010; a second one perhaps 5 years or so later for less than $500 via eBay! I waited for my price! My favorite lens for portrait, model and fashion work. Not super sharp as my two "Holy Trinity" lenses but sharp and smooth enough to avoid every wrinkle, pore and blemish on faces!

The "Improved" 24-120mm F4 Nikkor was very often offered as a "Kit Lens." I bought one a little later after its intro but not with a body; "Kit Lenses" are often discounted if purchased with a body!

My 2 cents! Be well! Ed

I have been looking into upgrading my camera from my Nikon D5600 to a Nikon D7500. All six of my lenses are Nikon DX. I ran across an ad for a Nikon Z50 and reallized that this might be an opportunity to move up. I would have to buy a Nikon FTZ adapter though and that would add about $250 to the cost of the outfit but I would not have to buy all new lenses. Would there be any marked increase in the quality of an image from a Z50 versus those from a D7500 or even my present D5600? Trapper1

Trapper1!

Several months ago I bought a Nikon Z5 mirrorless body when Nikon was offering refurbished cameras and lenses on their website. As I've been using both full-frame and DX bodies since 2005, I thought that the under $1000 price would encourage me to try Mirrorless. One factor was the FTZ adapter and I was able to use all my current DSLR lenses. I bought 2 of them via eBay, paying half-price for one and even less for a second one. It seems there are a lot of them available as many were included originally with Z bodies when the cameras were being introduced and not being used by the owners. This might also encourage you to buy a Z50.

For me the Z5 is ideal: uses 2 way less expensive SD cards and the shutter needs much less pressure than a DSLR leading to less shakiness.

I have a Dell laptop running Win 7. I know it's old but it's handy when running 10 on the others.
The problem, I turned it on and the indicator light above the signal button didn't come on and it is not receiving a signal from the router. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Plumbob1!

I use a number of different Dell laptops: 3500, 64XX, 72XX and 92XX series. On my Latitude 6440 laptop, running Win 7, along the right side is a red on/off Wifi switch (above the DVD player). On my Latitude 7450, there's a key with a Wifi icon shared with the "Prt Scr". Look for it elsewhere on other Dell series. Perhaps it's been moved to off or unpressed?
